The only thing I can tell you is what my Avian vet told me about my 2 macaws. Because both of them checked out so well during their annual visit with no problems, he did not recommend it. He said he would give the shots if I felt strongly about it
I believe if my birds had been in ill health, he may have advised me differently.
That's one thing I love about my avian vet. He is not in it for the money. He truly loves these animals.
My vet I used for my horse? Different story. She tried to tell me 2 yrs ago my horse may have cushings disease because his hair was so long. Hello! It was December! Even in Florida, it does get cool and horses adapt to their environment and get the winter coat nature thinks they need. Of course, he does NOT have cushings disease - he's OLD. Older horses do not shed as quickly as younger horses. He shed out fine in the spring (as he should) and acts like he's 5 instead of 22. I no longer use this vet.
