Clucking?

I'm new here and this is my first African Grey! Roscoe does this weird clucking noise. I'm not sure how to describe it. It's like a pop or when you move your tounge from top to bottom in your mouth. We have been doing it back to him but I'm not sure if it's an angry noise or just a noise he makes. I don't want to tick him off!

All of my (three) Greys do that. It's not a hostile noise; I believe it's just one of their methods of communicating. I don't know what it means; it's just part of the "bells and whistles" that Greys commonly make.

Ah, OK, that's good, then I'll keep imitating him so he knows I'm trying to "talk" to him. Bells and whistles that funny

Both of mine do it as well. My one uses as a way to get attention, sorta the greys equivilant to "Hey!". My other grey I learned would do it before he would bite me so I took his as a "step back". That was when he was a baby (6 mths old). As he grew up it changed to a "Hey!" like my other bird.
