Cag Growing In Tail Feathers!!

i've started my own little regimen with Barney, in an attempt to have him be the handsome boy he should be. We love him regardless, but for balance reasons, I think he would be better off with some feathers.
I stopped giving him peanuts. He gets the mash diet every night, with 1/4 teaspoon of red palm oil. (he actually won't eat it if the oil isn't on it)
He gets fresh fruits like papaya, apples, kiwi, and fresh collard greens and broccoli, and sweet potato. He also gets his seeds, and pellets. I give him a nice big chicken bone 2 times a week (monday and thursday) I add aloe to his water, and I got an aloe spray at the health food store that I spray him with a few times a week. I finally found a toy that he just loves to destroy, it cost 12.99 and he eats one every 2-3 days. It's the bird kabob by Ole, and I have never seen him so happy wrecking a toy The other day I went in their room, and he was dancing around in his water bowl, just having a wonderful time throwing the water everywhere!!!! He just seems so invigorated Well for the longest time he didn't even have any tail feathers, but I noticed just the other day he had the little red buds coming through, usually he pulls them before they even start to bud, and he has the most feathers on his body that he has had in forever it seems. I am hoping for the best, but prepared to have a little mostly bald bird, but I am so excited, it is the best ever!!!!! I just felt I had to share this with other bird people who might understand these little accomplishments, that mean so much

congrats! I have one to that prefers to be a nudist. It can be heartbreaking for the parront, but as long as they are Healthy in every other way, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!

Thank you for sharing some of your tips. I am going to order the harrisons feather stuff and give it a shot on my little nuddy.

Barney is a very healthy boy, but very off balance with very little to no wing feathers and no tail feathers. I've tried the kings cages pluck no more, and oh my god, he at least had some down feathers, but after the pluck no more he went nuts, and pulled everything!!!! He truly was a nudist!!
I've tried the avi clam, that was a waste, the feather up didn't work either. For some reason, the new approach I've taken (and it is a put together from all other ideas I've heard here on bird board) seems to be working. Plus I think finally finding a toy that he can wreck, that he likes, and can take out his frustrations on is helping too. Like I have said I love him no matter what, but I would like for him to have more balance.
He had a very rough life with his last owners. They fed him chocolate, lollipops, he never had clean water, they did alot of remodeling on their house with him in there, with machines going, dust flying, and they would cover him with his sheet all day while they were working. They fed him just sunflower seeds. Also they got a mouse problem, and found one dead in his cage pan, so he was probably terrified by this mouse every night in his cage. His other mom just called me one day and said for me to go the house and take him, while she was at work, she didn't want to see him leave but she knew he would be better off at our house with our other birds and such. And he already knew us. Well we went to get him, and his water had an old peice of chicken in it with a slimy film all over it and I actually almost upchucked from the smell of it!! They kept him in a tiny cage, in an isolated part of the house, where he got all of the fumes from the garage. He was a fully feathered beautiful bird when they bought him, now he is a high strung nervous wreck. I know they loved him, but they would not listen to any of my ideas on feeding or anything, insisting that a little chocolate was fine and he loved it!!! Anyway, I hope to one day restore him to the self confidant feathered bird he used to be, and maybe finally we are on the right path.

Thank you for taking him in.....
this certainly applies to you and your situation:

Saving one Bird, won't change the world.
But surely the world will change,
for that one bird.( by lisa b)

I wish you both much success and you brought a smile to my face.
