Question question about molting!

So...how often do grey's molt? Mine is 7 months old now and there has definitely been an increase lately in his little down feathers all over, but the big thing is his tail! It looks terrible, he has about 3 big feathers left and a bunch of little ones from the top. Is that from molting? Or could it be from when he flies off the cage and lands on the ground, I have seen him bend/break a couple that he will later pull completely out the rest of the way. But then it makes me wonder how long does it take for new tail feathers to grow in?

My main concern is of course, plucking, but he is out of his cage all day, has plenty of toys and is on a good diet of veggies, fruit and seeds. So I feel like I am doing all I can to keep him happy and healthy.

Any advice would be great!
Thanks
Omi

My cockatoo is also loosing a bunch of feathers. My vet told me that as long as you do not see bare spots it is okay. Because they are kept in the house in a controled environment they tend to molt at different times.

I know it can be scary. I know the first morning that I went to wake Jave up and saw all those feathers in his cage I got worried. I check him all over, under wings and everything and still do not see any bald spots.
