Take her to the vet - keep her warm and use a humidifier until you can get her in to see the vet. It may not even be the fire, she could just be getting sick or the air from winter has been to dry for her. The best advise is what I said plus a visit to the doc tomorrow. If her breathing gets worse you may have to call for an emergency visit.

Hi,

You did the right think about getting the bird some fresh air. Should it be smoke inhalation, pure oxygen would be best for the bird. If the bird continues to act sick, you want to keep it warm, 85-87 degrees ambient, and keep it hydrated.

The bird need to be seen by an avian vet if sick! I would make a couple of calls today to find an emergency vet should your bird need it. Remember a certified avian vet is your best choice!

she is not breatheing as heavy now [thankgod]
and she is chirping now
sounds a little bit horse but getting better
god i feel like a frantic mother but she is my baby so just panicked
thankyou both so much for your help
as when we went to buy her she was not well looked after on a farm
and would just squawk in the corner and shake and hardley had any feathers on her
but we had to buy her if only to get her away from the enviroment she was in
now she is hand tame and talks and everything still a bit featherless but we feel more happy that we have a happy bird not the the one in the corner scared
so again thankyou very much for your time and your help

hello. if you Pm me your location, i can look up my ABVP list located near you.

two things I do not like and should be checked regardless of how she is acting now.

1. breathing heavy.
2. hoarseness.

An ELISA test for aspergillosis titers should be run by a board certified Avian Vet.

in the mean time, she needs to be kept warm and like you are doing, while keeping the house aired out in case your woodburing stove has leaked any the combustion gases or polluting emissions.

There was an excellent article on aspergillosis in the May issue of bird talk magazine. These were in the top two symptoms....great job Lisa!!!
