Question Can I paint a cage?

I was given a small cage that I'd like to use for travel. It's in good shape but it is in desperate need of paint. It currently is a gold color but the paint is chipping and it looks terrible.
If I buuy a paint that is child-safe (no lead) is it safe to use on this cage? My CAG isn't a bar chewer so I'm hoping this will be ok to do.

if you do, make sure it's an extremely durable paint- such as appliance paint. Also, let it cure for at least 7 days.
