Everyone Please Welcome - Jean Pattison to our "Ask The Experts Staff"

Jean Pattison (African Grey and Poicephalus Parrots)

Jean Pattison, known as "The African Queen", along with her husband Tim, owns the African Queen Aviary. In 1984 she acquired a pair of Senegals and from there her fascination with African parrots grew to include over 100 pairs of African parrots, including an impressive collection of the Un-cape parrot. Her studied observation of the Senegals taught her about behavior and social patterns that she was able to apply to other African parrots in her care. She lectures at many of the national and international conventions and symposiums, and is currently the past President of the African Parrot Society. She has also written for many of the major publications including Bird Talk, Bird Breeder On Line, and AFA Watchbird. We here at Birdboard consider ourselves very fortunate to add her to our team of experts.

=================================

Introduction:

Thank you for inviting me to the Birdboard.
Before 1984, I had a few parrots as pets, and before starting any type of
serious breeding, I attended all the conferences and seminars that I could
possibly go to. This was a time before we had any tests for diagnosing any
illnesses in birds. We have come a long way in aviculture, yet I feel a lot
of the real hard-core information is not being made available. I hope I can
help change that. Thanks again.

Jean

Talking Welcome

Welcome!. Although I do not as of yet own a Grey, I hope to add one to my flock this year. I'm glad to see that when I do get one, I will have an expert who can give help and advice for any sticky situations.

Cathy
