Flipping over food and water bowls

My 8 month old Grey Shooter is normally fed from his playtop every morning and afternoon. The cups there are smaller and not locked in like the larger ones inside his cage. Recently I put a green bean in his bowl that he didn't want there. Shooter got so mad that he ripped the bowl out of the holder flipping it (and all contents) upside down. Since that day I have to feed him inside his cage because he'll do it every time, even on his perch in the den.

My wife didn't believe me at first, then I woke up one Sunday to her screaming that he was now upending his water bowl on his perch.

Is there any way to temporarily secure these bowls? My house is a bit cleaner when he eats on the playtop and perches.

Try a clothes pin or metal clip.

Welcome to parrot world. I have found heavy crocks sometimes to set on top if I want to give something special works better. I find them at the dollar store. A parrot will destry a clothes pin and a metal clip will be removed and can get caught on a toe or beak.
Oh and tell your wife to get used to it - many things in life shall be destroyed by a parrot, lol, no matter how hard you try to prevent it. I lost an entire Laptop to my baby grey. He wasnt even trying. he was playing so hard on his stand he upended everything which sent the water bowl flying onto my laptop which was UNDERNEATH an end table. Trouble will find THEM!

Thanks for the insight. I guess we'll try looking for something to fit in those rings besides lightweight aluminum bowls.

Flipping over food and water bowls

My cag, Parker, use to do the same thing - so I found the quick lock bowls at Pet Smart and they solved the problem. I lock them in the wires just below the top of the cage so he can stand on the top and the bowl is at eating level. No more chunking of the bowls from Parker!

Hi, I'm and new member here and forgot to introduce myself. I am owned by Parker, 6 year old CAG. He is slightly spoiled and my best friend! We are celebrating our one year anniversary of belonging to each other! WOOHOO!
