Angela - It's all about your preferences. I used to be very strict about my Macaw on my shoulder when she was my only bird because I knew she could deliver a devastating bite to my face if something was to scare her, etc. Also, birds can decide they're tired of sharing their perch (your shoulders) with YOUR head! LOL However, when I got my U2, I started only allowing her on my shoulder when I would invite her...never when it was solely her idea. Then I got my CAG, and he liked my shoulder, and being a lot smaller, I didn't mind. However, I still only allow it by my invitation, not his. Now that my Macaw sees the U2 and the CAG on my shoulder, she tries to go there, too. I do not allow it to this day. Poor thing. LOL Anyway, if you don't want the bird on your shoulder, do not allow them there. Continue putting them back on your hand or arm and eventually they seem to get the idea. Redirect their attention if they are obsessing on going to your shoulders! You can do this just by changing their focus to something else. It probably isn't necessary to take your bird and place back in the cage, but that is certainly your preference.
