Panic's around people

I have had my CAG for 3 months now and have progressed nicely with him. From a growling screaming bird he has become loving and trusting although I still have far to go with him. He is very calm around my husband myself and my 2 grown children. Over the weekend we had a few people around at the house and I moved him into a room away from the people but so that he could still hear us. We have never had a group of people around since we got him. Of course people wanted to have a look at him and when anyone approached his cage he went hysterical. He growled and screamed like mad. This is going to be a bit of a problem for me when we go abroad on holiday in December. As we have no boarding facilities here in, Qatar, I was planning to leave him with a friend. She also approached the cage and he just went crazy. How can I get him used to other people? I don't want to stress him out unnecessary and would rather cancel my holiday if this is going to be a problem. Is there anything I can do to get him used to other people??

he is going to have to be socialized more, and your guests need to take a step back and slow things down. When you have a any guest, make them walk in slowly and talk to them so he knows they are not there to harm him.
If you see the bird getting upset by people being there, make them back up till they are out of his safe place.
He had a double wammy by being moved first and then people he doesnt know approaching him.
he might have not been used to the room, and seeing all new things including the people.

you have a terrified grey you need to protect somewhat. something has had to happen in his past to make him so scared of humans.

I agree with Lisa B, she's exactly right.
You've had him for 3 months now. How much do you know about his home-life before you? And how old is he?

Thanks for the answers. I believe he is around 2 years old. He was actually given to me by an Indian man who said he could not take care of him due to his hours of work. When I first got him, he was aggressive towards me too, he is now very attached to me and follows me around the house and talks all the time. I am still not able to touch him but I am getting closer all the time. Only yesterday he was on the table he stood on my arm for a while. I think that in his previous home there were young children who may have teased him as he used to make funny sounds like young kids do. I am still very concerned about boarding him during our holidays as I don't want to put him through any unnecessary stress. He is a lovely bird and very I am very attached to him. I will start having the lady around who is going to care for him during our holiday and slowly introduce him to her. I can't imagine anyone abusing such beautiful little creatures. Thanks again
