Can he be spoilt??

I have a CAG and went abroad last week leaving him with a friend. Upon collecting him I was told that he is TERRIBLY SPOILT. I was quite upset about this remark as I don't see him as spoilt, I see him as a happy content parrot who just doesn't take to other people easily. My friend has previously owned parrots and therefore I don't think he said this to hurt me but was probably comparing my parrot to his. What do you think?? Could it be that he is spoilt?

He was probably missing you and didn't want a lot to do with your friend... he doesn't have to like everyone and his brother..so what if he is spoilt, he's your baby.

Is that a bad thing? I'd take it as a complement. I know my monsters are spoiled. Let's face facts, I think I work to support them in the style they have become accustomed...and I'm o.k. with that. Whether he meant it as a complement or not doesn't matter. It means he is getting a lot of good attention and has a nice life.

Spoiled is a term that is used differently by different people. If your bird is doing what YOU want and expect and you dont have any problems then NO he is not spoiled - he is trained the way YOU trained him. Now if he is doing something you dont like and you have allowed it to go on or you allowed him to develop the behavior. Then you allowed him to spoil in that behavior.
Example - someone gets a pup and it growls at there sister. They think its cute as a pup and laugh. It progresses and gets worse to the point where one day the now grown dog attacks the sister. The behavior was not only not corrected at the START it was also encouraged by the laughter and happy "feel" the pup got. So the pup improvised on it and built on it slowly. THAT is spoiled some terms but actually that pup was "trained" to be what it was by its owners actions. Same with birds. Someone else might say the dog was spoiled.
I dont like the term. Spoiled foods cannot be made fresh again so they are ruined. Poorly trained animals can be retrained. If he doesnt meet your friends training recommendations then its up to you to decide if he HAS to?!
