Need advice AGAIN !!

Hi everyone. I left my CAG with a friend for a period of 6 days. This friend has owned parrots and I felt comfortable leaving my "boy" with him. When I fetched him he was very excited to see me, so I took it everything was ok. I did notice that since he got home he hasn't flown. He normally comes to the kitchen in the morning and sits on the chair for an hour or 2 and then flies back to his cage. Since his return I have had to wheel him on his play stand back to his cage. At first I thought he was just a wee bit out of routine and needed time to get back into things. This has been going on for over a week now. My husband suggested that I leave him in the kitchen and when he got tired he would fly to the cage. Today he sat on the chair for almost 7 hours. We eventually had to wheel him to the cage. Upon mentioning this to my daughter she told us that this friend had told her that he had to throw a blanket over the bird to catch him and put him in his cage. I am now frantic that this had hurt my bird. He is not showing any signs that there is something wrong, his behaviour is normal and he is happy. I am just worried about him not wanting or not being able to fly. I do call to him when he is on the chair and he flaps his wings like mad and calls back. There are no obstacles in his way and his path to the cage is clear. I have been watching him playing in his cage and he is swinging and hanging on his toys using his wings, so it doesn't seem like his wings are hurt. What can be causing this. Unfortunately, we don't have Avian vets in this part of the world but I am thinking I may need to have him checked. Does anyone have any clue as to why he is doing this? Thanks guys

Not sure but wots coming through to me is may be he is scared that if he flies that will happen again, i think time for him to settle back home and feel safe again he will soon be back to normal.
Bless him .

Pauline, thank you so much for your input. I have been frantic with worry, I kept thinking something is wrong and I am not seeing it. Maybe I should just leave him a while longer. Take care.

He tried...

Hi, just to let you know that this morning he did fly back to his cage and then from the cage down the passage. However, this afternoon he got onto the chair and wouldn't budge, I had to wheel him on his play perch. I think you are right, he is nervous to fly because something spooked him while he was with my friend. I am going to leave him and let him sort his fear out by himself. I feel so much better about it now. Thanks

I am assuming he does not step up? Why dont you train him to step up on your hand or a handheld perch for a treat? then you can transport him to his cage that way as well as building trust.

Busy

I am busy trying to get him to step up. He came to me totally wild and he has just recently allowed me to start scratching his head. He steps up to get his treat but is still very nervous and the moment I move my hand or lift it he steps down or try to take flight. Yes, it would have been ideal if he was a bit more relaxed and stepping up. Hopefully not too much longer.
