Question Sometimes my CAG would peck even though she is being pet before. Is this normal?

We just got her because this couple is Divorcing. We can tell is she well taken cared for. This is her 5 day. My wife managed to get closer to her before me. She would come near you and offer her head for touching and the when you get your finger near her she would peck you. But not very hard. We give her treats and play with her. She is 10 yrs old. Her name is Isa. She talks up a storm and whistle too. Very smart. [/COLOR]

She is still getting used to you, try offering treats from your hand. If she's not biting hard that's a good sign but take it slow at her own pace and build her trust by not stressing her out. Sitting and reading by her cage is something a lot of people like to do. Congratulations on your new addition. :)

Thank you very much for your support. I was starting to wonder how come I'm not getting any feed backs. She let my wife pet her again w/out biting. We are happy with her.

Some parrots, especially older ones will have a definite gender preference. If they have had bad experience with men they will take longer to warm up to them and vice versa. Maybe yours bonded with her female caretaker in the past. Bribery seems to work well with shy birds.

My adopted 7 year old grey loves me to pieces but will only now just tolerate my boyfriend without shaking in fear after 3 months of being here. He is careful to move slowly around her and give her treats and she will give him kisses on command now before bed. She will step up to him (and anyone I think) but it took a while for her to do it without shaking. Good luck!

Our adopted Grey is now ok and talking a lot.

She is the best pet I can ask for. We bought a book and it was really helpful. We Now open the cage and she doesn't even fly. But we do consider her as a part of our Family. She talks a lot and I figured I should get one of those programs that teaches them more tricks. Her name when we got her is Messiah but my wife change it to Isa. She said it sounds close enough. We are planning to go to the Bird fair in Pleasanton Ca.
