Is he eating the same food you've fed, indicating familiarity with the food? Does he seem familiar with the cage, moving around, etc.? It seems you should hear vocalizations you'd recognize, fairly soon after coming home. The fact that he doesn't seem to recognize you is very odd. I can be gone two weeks (once seven weeks), and my Grey is so happy to see me when I return. Plus even though they are so similar, a lot of Greys have physical differences like head shape, size, feather color, that much of the time we could recognize our own.

Hi chapala he is eating well moving about the cage slept on his stone perch lastnite i was up at 6:30 today he is making sounds but not the sounds i remember i was gone for a week one time, and he was very happy to see me, but like i said he was loose for 23 days god only knows what hes been through do you think his lack of a healthy diet could cause his eyes to darken a bit more was a light yellow to a darker shade ? thank you much, you know the throw up routine thats how close a bond we had, he kissed me when i put my mouth close to him at the ladys house that caught him then he bit the hell out of my finger, any way i will give it time, iam just wating for him to make the noises he did befor he flew away, thank you much

Knowing how intelligent birds are..to me, that doesn't seem to be your bird.

If he had such a close bond with you before the loss, but now is acting different in the ways that matter, that's a telling point...but that's just my opinion.

Birds are "handed"... like us, right or left handed, well in their case footed.

I'm with Phenom on this one!

I don't think the eye color would change either. A darker or gray eye means a younger bird, the straw color means older.

Do you have any pictures to compare? It sound like a younger bird to me with dark eyes - Pictures side by side would give it away in a heart beat. So how does you bird keep getting away???
