Need Help....TWO New Grays Coming TOMORROW!!

Hi all, my name is Patty, and I have been on here several times, because my son Sydney, (AGC) got loose on 7/28/09 from our home. For those that have read my story, I have tried everthing humanly possible to get our boy back, and he is still not home. We know where he is, (at night anyways, because he does not vocalize in the day) but have been unable to catch him. But I am a Christian, and believe things happen for a reason. This was ONE VERY DIFFICULT PILL to swallow, but I figure God knows what He is doing, and He will let my baby come home when He is ready. BUT....IN THE MEANTIME...... I got a call from an elderly gentleman when Syd first went missing, by the name of Jim. He told me that he and his wife have a Gray Congo, and his best friend (and barber by the way) has two as well. Jim has called me back several times in the last two and a half months checking to see if we have found our son and to see how my husband and I were holding up.
I got a call from Jim last Monday night, telling me that his friend that has the two grays just passed away. He told me that they birds are a male and female, and they are 4 years old. Jim's friend bought them in the hopes of breeding them, but when I mentioned the breeder box to Jim, he said his friend didn't even know they NEEDED a box to breed. Obviously, this man was not at all familiar with birds and breeding. But, apparently this man was very afraid of his grays, so much so that he fed them using tongs. This mans family called my husband and myself and asked if we wanted the birds. We have agreed to adopt them both. They have been in the same cage together for forever, and very happy together. I am going tomorrow morning to pick them up and bring them to their new home.
I have a couple of concerns, I am hoping I can rely on you fine people for.
#1....transporting them. I do not want to cause them any undue stress. I do have two "carrying cages" but, am worried about the best way to get them into them. Ideas?
#2....I have a baby Blue Front 3.5 months old, and I want to quarentine the new birds for awhile, but how long is long enough?
#3....I am putting the new kids in my office at home, where I spend most of my time during the day. I need to know how adaptable a four year old Congo is. My son Syd was exactly four years old in April of this year, but he was with my husband and I from 10 DAYS old. So, I am a little worried about their mental states. All I want is to give them a good loving home, and hope that they will eventually learn to trust me and my husband enough to interact with us. Any ideas and or advice? Anyone?
Thank you in advance. Patty

I can't give you any advice for your situation but wish you luck with your new family members and hope they make the transition relatively smoothly!

Bets transition is to put them into the same crate by toweling them if they do not step up. Cover them with a blanket or towel so they cannot see. Bring home and set up there cage exactly as it was. Cover the back half of it and put them right in it when its done and let them be for a few days so they can feel secure with what is familiar and look out and study what is not on their own for awhile.

I have a suggestion for you to tr to get your son back. Since you said you know where he is at night put his cage wherever you think he is and maybe he will come to that. I have heard this works. It is worth a try......

Thank you for the suggestion. We actually have three of his cages out there. The one that sat on our deck, the one I used to carry him to the vet in, and the one that cost me 700.00.....all out in the rain. Oh well, if he gets inside and warms himself just for one minute....it would be SO worth it. I would pay 700.00 a day to keep him safe and warm.
Hopefully, with the weather getting SO much colder, he will decide to take shelter in one of them. Say a prayer please. Thanks again.

Please welcome Zeb & Zoe

Please give a warm Bird Board welcome to......Zebastian & Zoe!!!
They are 4 years old each, and I brought them home this morning. Believe it or not, they are whistling and talking up a storm already. They are a God send to Tom and I. Tom (hubby) is actually out looking for Syd again right now. I have been afraid all day because it dropped to 33 degrees last night, and I have been imagining the worst, but Tom just called and said Syd is calling back to him. So, UNBELIEVABLY.....he made it through last nights freeze. I don't know how he is doing it, but my son seems to be living in the absolute worst weather possible.
I was offered these two babies last week, because their Dad (82 years old) passed away. So, these two were an unbelievable gift from God today.
