Question Perch question......(yes - yet another one - lol)

Hi Everybody - I found a guy on Ebay that makes wook swings and sells them on Ebay - they look really nice, he only has macaw sizes now but will make one 1" or 1 1/2" diameter, etc - question is - he emailes me and said
quote "Hi Natalie, there is no price difference between the sizes, however I will discount it for you by $5.00, the wood is not baked,I would be afraid it would crack or cause some of the splits in the wood to widen so I pressure wash them with hot water.
the wood is fruit wood from local farms here in N.J. so you don't have to worry about any disease's, most times birds pass and recieve disease's from used toy's,cages, etc.
all of the items on the swing are new, chains ,flip chips, wood pieces, hardware. I have 2 scarlet macaws and would not take any chances with them so I understand your concerns.
thanks again.
Lee
(i posted it from my e-mail) I thought for it to be safe it had to be baked - what is ya'll expert opinion on this???? #3979535564 is the ebay item number for one of these - I'd love any input you have - Thanks - Natalie

Natalie:

No, it doesn't have to be baked, but its usually a good idea. It will kill whatever tiny insects are lingering. You can simply scrub it with some bleach and water if you're concerned. Frankly, I'd like to know what kind of fruit wood and whether or not its from an orchard. Farmers routinely spray their trees for fungus and pests. Also, some woods are bad for birds. Cherry is one of them.

Thank you very much for the input - I think I'm just gonna stay away from it - "when in doubt...do nothing"
