I am now a CAG owner!!!!

Hi All,
I just got home a little while ago with my newest addition to the family. Noah is an 8 year old CAG. I got him from the same lady I got my parrotlet from.
The parrotlet is young only 4 months old so he had no problems adjusting to his new home but since the CAG is older what kind of time frame am I looking at for him to get used to his new surroundings? The lady said I should just feed him and water him for the first few days and not bother him just give him his space and time to adjust. He was with a female but they wouldnt bond,
I am sure I will be on here lots asking questions and making sure I am doing things right for Noah.
Linda

The lady gave you good advice...it's recommended you give the bird 7-10 days to settle in (more if needed)...in the meantime, talk to the bird lots and tell it how wonderful it is...

...you'll have to post a picture...I also have a Noah...but mine's 10 years old and goes to Grade 5 .

Things are going ok I am taking it real slow. For now I just talk to him and give him his space. Is it possible to get him used to being handled at his age?
He is a riot to watch hasnt made much noise yet maybe that will change when he gets used to his new home? He is eating real good so the move didnt affect his appetite. Im taking that as a good sign he is adjusting. Been on ebay lots trying to decide which cage to buy him. His name is Noah.

Linda:

Sounds very promising. Many birds that are rehomed take a while before they feel comfortable enough to talk. I had my Radar (TAG) for well over a month before she said a single word. My Cleo (CAG) took less time and now NEVER shuts up. It really is about feeling safe and secure.

Oh God, I miss my baby! My african grey named Banjo escaped May 8th of this year and I have had NO luck locating him.

He LOVED me and I him, and he used to kiss me all the time and let me kiss him anywhere I wanted.

Now seeing all these greys really makes me miss my Banjo!!!!!!

You will LOVE having a grey, very special and gentle birds. Quirky and unique and they will let you know when they want to be petted and when to leave them alone!
Congrats!!! I have to start saving for another one.....anyone know of a private breeder in the central florida area???

I don't know of one in the central Florida region, but Joel breeds them and is currently handfeeding some TAGS as we speak. They may even be weaned. He's near Miami, I believe, but may be willing to meet you halfway. I have both a Congo and a Timneh and feel that though both are wonderful, I actually prefer the Timneh. He may even have Congos, I'm not really certain.
