My African Grey is extremely snuggly !
My little girl was born last year at a professional breeder on July 14, 2004 - and after she was weaned I offically adopted her. I visited her as a tiny wiggly chick, and she instantly took to me even before she was old enough to adopt. The breeder said she chose me, (instead of me selecting her) I can't describe the love and connection I felt for Emily even from the very beginning.
Well Emily continues to be a total source of joy, constantly being adorable and funny. She tosses plastic-golf balls to me, and I catch them. Sometimes she'll throw five or more "in a row" and then laughs at me as I scamble around the room trying to catch them. We call this game "Birdie-Ball"! Emily loves to cuddle ! I didn't know that African Greys generally were snugglers but my little parrot definately is. She will snuggle under a blanket, nestled tightly under my chin, while my husband and I watch T.V. on the couch. And if you put her on the bed, she gurgles excitedly and burrows under the blankets. We play a game I call "tree house" where I snuggle her on top of pillows under the blankets and we pretend we are living in the jungle nesting in the trees. It sounds silly, but my baby loves playing "tree house." Emily will fall asleep while I gently rub her face, and around her eyes with the tip of my fingers... but if I stop she will "cluck, cluck, cluck" at me until I resume my preening duties. I would love to hear more stories about cuddly African Greys ! Laura and Baby Emily |

Mine too.
My wife brings our CAG Jazzy to me in bed on Saturday mornings . I hide under the covers and Jazzy digs around until she finds me. Then she likes to be rolled up in the covers and petted while we watch the gardening shows.
Our Jazzy sound alot like your bird.....Very snuggly. Strange though, she talkes only to my wife but snuggles only with me. Jazzy's pal Steve |

snuggler
My cag, Ollie, loves to snuggle, but usually only when she's getting sleepy. I lay on the couch and she cuddles up against my neck, jabbering quietly to herself the entire time. She closes her eyes, and and eventually falls asleep. This is her favorite time to be scratched!

My CAG likes to snuggle but I can't let him wander because he puts holes in everything! :( I really wish I could get him to stop that.

Jazzy does seem a lot like my little Emily. Emily also really loves to snuggle. I love when she falls asleep on my face ! She'll tuck her body tight under my chin, and rest her neck and head across my cheek. She gurgles in her sleep, (like with mutterings of words.) I can feel her shut eyes move when she is napping on my cheek. Emily likes to nap under the blankets often with just her beak peaking out.
I think this a wonderful gift because there is no where Emily minds being touched. I kiss her toes all the time and tickle her Toonie-Tuesdays (legs !)dozens of times a day. Once my husband was sound asleep on the pillow and Emily walked up to him, rolled up her toes into a fist and kicked him square on the forehead. (I am not sure if that was to wake him up, or just check if my husband was still alive !) Jazzy and Emily would have a greater chance of early detection by us to discover lumps, growths, etc. than a parrot who wasn't as cuddly. So if there was ever an accident, they'd both be much easier to handle by us or the vet, then say a parrot who hated being snuggled, "toweled" (or "confined" in blankets). Only once did a situation happen that I used our "snuggle in the bed" game to help Emily. Somehow she got some sunscreen on her beak, and wouldn't let me wipe if off. So I put her on our bed, and she ran under the blankets, and when she turned around under the blankets I just made a big silly fuss over her, including a playful wipe of a damp facecloth across her beak. Emily just gurgled and didn't mind, or even seem to notice. Unlike in the washroom where the damp facecloth was her mortal enemy... How old is Jazzy ? Did she have a DNA test done to establish gender, or do you know in you heart she is a girl. My Emily had a DNA test because someone ahead of me on the adoption list wanted a boy. So by the time I selected my baby chick, they knew she was not they were looking for in a parrot - so Emily was available for me. What a loss to them ! I actually was hoping for a girl parrot and my husband was hoping for a boy. But we were not planning to have the DNA testing, it just worked out that the chick we adopted already had it done. It's a kind of a cute "document" because it looks like a birth certficate, but I personally would of not ordered the test. Hello to your family, especially Jazzy ! We just had the vet trim her nails. They cut them too short so now she has a hard time clinging to my shoulder when we go out to the garden. I'm sure they will grow back. Thanks for the nice reply, Jazzy's bunch |

Enjoy the cuddling while it last. My Ozzie, CAG use to LOVE to cuddle. Not anymore. She is 14 months old now, and wants no part of it. Altho a few months ago, thats ALL she wanted to do. I was told it wouldn't last and it didn't. Good Luck and keep snuggling while you can.
