Talking MJ finally said Dada!

Hey everybody,

Guess what? (Well, if you read the title, you know already, heh.) MJ FINALLY said Dada! WOO-HOO!!!

He talks like mad. He's 7 and says so many things I've lost count. Tried to write them all down one day and stopped after 4 printed pages. He says Momma all the time, "Momma go to the store, momma give you a peanut," ect. But he's never said Daddy. Everytime my dad cleans his cage, he tells MJ, "Daddy clean your cage." And when he goes to work, he always tells him, "Daddy go to work." But after a year and a half of this, he never said Daddy, until today! (Which is odd, cause he'll say a new word almost immediately.)

So I was home alone tonight and went in the living room to do my homework. Thought I'd spend time with the birdies. So I opened MJ's door so he could climb around some. I forgot they get jealous when you read and make a lot of noise, trying to get your attention. So I'm doing a good job of ignoring them, until I hear MJ start saying things he never said before. Didn't quite catch what he said, but knew it was new. So I put the book down and said, "What did you say?"

And he goes, "Ok, I'm gonna clean your cage now. Get on your perch. Dad. Da. Dad-da clean your cage now. Good boy!"

And I got so excited I think I scared him, LOL! I immediately called my dad at work, but got his voicemail. Left him a message. I felt like a new mom commenting on her baby's first words, LOL! My mom called (she was shopping) to ask me something and I told her. She was all excited and laughing. He hasn't said it again, yet, but he went on to say a few more new things!

Now, MJ is a fatboy and all he ever thinks about is food. So, after he said Dad-da and I got all excited, all he said was, "Popcorn" over and over for 15 minutes, LOL! Oh yeah, interspersed with comments like, "Are you a good boy, popcorn. Oh yer such a good boy, popcorn." LOL! So, I had to make him popcorn. And I gave him some peanuts and treats, too.

So after he gorged himself for awhile, he was saying what he wanted. "I want a carrot, I want a peanut, popcorn..." over and over again. As if he isn't fat enough. Then he said, "I want cu cumer." I was like, "Did you just say you want a cucumber?!" And he bobbed his head up and down, LOL!!!

I wanted him to come and sit by me, so I put some peanuts, treats (he calls them carrots, cause they're orange sticks), and popcorn in the bowl of his portable perch. So he says he wants peanuts and carrots and popcorn. And I said, "They're over here by mom. You have to come over here by mom if you want them." And he said, "I can't reach anything!" LOL!!!

Now, he's been saying, "I can't reach you" or "I can't reach it" cause I say that when I want to give him tickles and he is too far away. But I never expected to hear, "I can't reach anything!" LOL! He's too smart.

Mom came home and gave him treats. Dad came home and gave him treats. I think he might explode before tomorrow, LOL!

Lightbulb Scary smart stuff

Heh, thanks guys. Oh yeah, when they do that scary smart thing, that's just freaky. Then you expect them to just start talking like a person to you. These are my 2 funniest smart Grey things.

One time I was trying to watch (and listen) to the new U2 video (the band, not an umbrella too, lol) on my laptop in the livingroom. First time I'd ever heard Vertigo, or was trying to. The music made MJ sing and be loud and stuff. So I went in my room and got my headphones. I come back in the livingroom and MJ looks at me, looks at the headphones, then says, "Oh, you want to hear that?" I was friggen scared to answer! I was like, "Um, yeah, that would be nice..." LOL! He never said anything like that before or since. I was actually pretty creeped out, lol! Especially because... HE'S NEVER SEEN HEADPHONES BEFORE... AND I didn't have them on! He knew what they were! ACK!

The other one that was funny/scary was my grandma's first grey, Mindo. She was a very very mean bird. I think she was wild caught. So, my dad was messing around one day and put a grapefruit on top of her cage. He thought she'd bite it and not like it, cause it was sour. Well, Mindo looks up at the grapefruit (with that sideways parrot look) and yells, "WHAT'S THAT?!" LOL!!!! Everyone in the kitchen cracked up! Never said that before or after. Too funny!

Yes, we all know they are too smart for their own good. I'm waiting to see what Spencer comes out with. There is too much going on in that little mind of hers already.
