He/she is adorable! try to give him vegetables all the time so that he doesn't forget as he grows. I have 3 cags, two of them are fully feathered and the baby (Chico) chewed all of his feathers before I bought him. He is doing much better now, the vet said there is nothing wrong with him (thank God) is just the changes and most likely needs behavior modification.
You have to watch your baby carefully.
In one occasion, the oldest (Coco 3) stop eating for about 2 days, I did not know what to do, he also was falling down of his perch. I took him to an expert and he asked me if there was anything new around him or if I had moved the cage to a different location. To make a long story short, a couple of days before I received some ballons and he was terrified of them. It was not until I walked near them and moved them and I saw Coco throwing himself from his perch that I realized the problem. As soon as I took the ballons to another room he started eating.
Grays are very sensitive.
Good luck with your baby and keep posting pictures!

Spokane.
I grew up in Waukegan, IL...not too far from Loganville. Funny how that works!

We had a ton of snow in the middle of December, but nothing has been sticking since then. It's been "sunny" for the past 3 days. I love it!

By the way, they have bird shows in Racine at least a couple times a year...You can get some good stuff, cheap...it may be worth the drive. PM me if you want details on my experiences (good and bad).

Go Packers!

And foot toys...especially the acrylic ones. And those whiffle-ball looking things...my Grey loves to chase that thing across the living room floor:-)

Good luck with your new baby!
You might want to go into the recipe section here and check out Lissa's Kitchen Rice and Bean Mix. When I wanted to introduce new foods to Spencer (and get him to wean) this was a huge hit.

As far as foot toys go, check out www.greyfeathertoys.com
They have some really grey't toys, you should see Spencer go at them!

Will you look at my manners? I completely forgot to welcome you to the group!! Lizzy, it's grey't to have you here!! Alex is quite a little cutie!! I hope you have lots of good years with him.

There's something else I'd like to suggest that you pick up, if you haven't already. That is the book, For The Love of Greys by Bobbie Brinker. It is an excellent book, with lots of very wonderful information. I learned so much from the book!! She covers lots of areas.

I wish you luck with Alex. And as suggested, make sure you learn how to hand feed just in case. When I got Spencer, (the breeder said) he was on 1 hand feeding a day. Well guess what, he reverted to 2 for well over 2 months after I got him (actually, almost 3). He seems to be doing much better, and eating on his own. But, babies can revert back, wanting that comfort.

Best of luck to you!! I'm sure you'll be fine. Heck, I know you'll be fine..... you have all of us here for you!!

Have any of you tried the flight suits? Just wondering how your birds react to them and if they are worth the money. Thanks

Yes, I have a flightsuit for my birds. Definitely worth the money...just introduce it slowly over time...don't try to put it on the day you get it. Let the bird adjust to seeing it and recognizing it before you try to put it on him, otherwise, he's likely to freak out, especially the Grey's. They're very sensitive and observant.
