Timneh???

Someone has an african grey that they are interested in knowing the species... some believe it's a hybrid, due to the tail... To me, it just looks like a timneh with a very red tail! The bird is believed to be an import due to a round open band (3 letters, 3 numbers, and probably imported through Florida)

I've given them advice on the band, as well as my opinion on the matter... but I'm curious about yours!

Just looking at him, it looks like a timneh. The tail still has that 'brown wash' to it, just not as dull. His overall body color looks timneh too- much darker then a congo.

Having a TAG myself I would say yes that is a TAG. The bone colored beak is a TAG trait. The CAG has a black beak

Then the question is, how many TAG's have you seen with a tail as red as Rockos???

I'm not sure if we will be getting any weight info considering that Rocko (if I recall his name right) isn't tame, but I'll let you know if I find out more!

I'd say TAG also, but I have never seen one with tail feathers that red!

I'd say you have the best of both worlds!! But my opinion is a TAG.

Those are really BRIGHT tail feathers. Bella still doesn't have a full tail yet. She broke a good bit of them.

I would say TAG...my parent's TAG has tail feathers almost as vibrant. Nice looking bird!

They look bright- but perhaps its a mix of genes and exceptional care from the owner. He doesn't appear to have any other congo traits- you'd think he'd exhibit more congo traits if he was indeed a hybrid.
