My baby is home!!!

I finally brought my baby male CAG home last week. I haven't been on here since before then. I am just so busy with him, playing feeding and cleaning up after him!

I am hoping to avoid the stereotypical neurotic grey. So far, he hasn't rejected anyone (yet)! He steps up for anyone who asks. My hubby makes these really weird noises, he loves it! He lets me touch him everywhere on his body. I can gently and slowly extend each of his wings to look underneath. He ate dinner with us tonight. I put his basket perch on the table and he even had his own little dish of the beans and rice. After dinner, we sat down to unwind and watch a movie. He tucked his little head right into the crook of my neck and fell asleep!

I love him so much and he hasn't even been here a week yet! I GET IT now!

My friend is giving me a very large used cage. It will not come inside the house until it is completely disinfected! I should use a bleach and water solution? Anything else to make sure my baby isn't exposed to something nasty?

Pictures coming soon!

Congrats on your new baby!! I know how excited you are, I"m still on cloud 9 aftering bringing Tristan home over a month ago. Every morning, as I'm making their breakfast, she comes into the kitchen to see what I"m doing. I guess it's her way of saying "Daddy, hurry up".

I notice you're in S. Joisey!!! I'm in SE PA, there are several BB members in our "area". Welcome and don't be a stranger!!

Thanks greyburd

I brought my baby for a ride today, he really doesn't like the travel carrier, but I want him to get used to going places.

How old is Tristan?

Where in SE PA? Closer to the DelMemBr or the CommBarry? Another list that I belong to had a 'Parrot Picnic' a little while ago. What do you think? That would be a fun thing to do with the people around here...

Thanks for only saying in So Jersey, I'm not FROM here, only a transplant! HaHa!

Going to play with my little guy for awhile. Then we have to pickup my OES at the groomer.

Talk to you later,

Amy

Hey Now...

Easy with the "FROM" there stuff...I live in Maryland now, but I'm FROM there. And South Jersey is awesome! I'm so homesick!

The key is SOUTH Jersey...If I say New Jersey, people think I was born next to an oil refinery and turnpike in Newark! Curious in what town you live?
And SE Pennsylvania guy too? Are you in Delco?I'm from Riverton, NJ...and lived in places like Mt. Laurel, Rhawnhurst, (NE Philly) and Manayunk.

Back to the birds...WOW, you are having a much better first week than we are! I'm jealous!!! My CAG came home Saturday morning and that day was good...but we've had a few issues since then!

Oh, as for the Bleaching of the cage...I think you should maybe consider using an actual "Cage Cleaner" from a bird/pet supplier. Just to be on the safe side...especially since Grey's love to put their beaks and tongues on EVERYTHING!!!

Saying your from/in S. Jersey is like saying you're from Philly. You're OK!!!

I'm in Chester Co. That would be closer to Del. Mem. Br. (I think)

Tristan is 4 months old.

PM me about the picnic!!

Congrats on getting the bird home!

Bleach will be sufficient for disenfecting the cage, in the proper concentration it will kill everything, and if rinsed properly and well there will be no residue that will be bad for the bird. Chlorine is one of the more effective biocides out there- It'll kill pretty much everything that can be killed....
