While I don't have ANY african grey experience, I would be worried because of my budgie's personality - he thinks he is larger than life and has no problems trying to boss around larger animals or people

I would never put a grey anywhere near a budgie- serious damage could be done! Its not worth the risk.

If you carefully supervise both of them, I would think they would be okay. I have a CAG and a GCC (she's not much bigger than a budgie) who live in the same room, and even can play together on their hoopball. It just depends on your birds, and how well you supervise them, I think.

A leash, so to speak, is best only used for going out of the house... and not all birds enjoy using them.
