Dumb question

Why do Grey's have such big feet?

I was just curious. A lot of shore birds have big feet. Do Grey's like the waters edge in the wild? There is a reson for those big ol kickers.

Hmm... I guess I haven't noticed grey's feet being abnormally large for their body size. I'm not sure about the water thing.

Dumb Question

Sorry Glenda but we do NOT allow "dumb" questions in here.

My response to your question though (being the incorrigible rule-breaker that I am - when not caught ) is the same as Camille's.

All I can find is that gray's inhabit low lying land in the rainforest. Sounds wet to me.

Maybe they need big feet to hold onto those wet tree branches!

But aren't Greys kind of heavy for their size? I always think Pigeons look funny with their tiny feet & fat bodies. Greys look just right.

In the wild they can be observed at the forrest edge, and area ground foregers, often near Elephants. So alot of time is spent waddling through muddy ground and Elephant poop.
They do have smaller feet for thier body size. The joke was, that Grey's were Gods first parrot. they were the test species....thus going on to create more agile, and beautiful species int the avian world.
This was a discussion at a bird club many years back. I dont remember who the guest spearker was, maybe Maggie Wright?
Look at my picture below of Sydney.... his feet compaired to his body....Miss Emma too has petite tooties. Stirling looks more normal....Then look at Harley....that is one big perch he is on!
