Love

For the first couple of months, everytime I looked at Tuki (my CAG) I thought about what he needed. How can I make him comfortable, healthy, happy?

Even though I enjoyed watching him play or cuddling with him, I spent ALL my time with him worrying about keeping him safe, fed and helping him learn to grow into a great Grey.
It was all about my responsibilities as a new CAG parent.

Like with most pets I've had, I really liked Tuki a lot but we are still getting to know each other and he is still just a baby. I don't know yet who he will be. I love him in the instinctive way you love something little that depends entirely on you for life. We had not yet truly bonded.

Then, last night, something happened.
I was relaxing on the couch, watching TV. My dog was asleep at my feet and Tuki in his cage to my right.
I heard Tuki begin to grind his beak as he does when he settles in for sleep...I looked over at him and saw his bottom beak grind, his eyes closed, neck feathers puffed and right foot raised. He needed for nothing.

It was in that simple moment it happened. I got tears in my eyes realizing how much I love him!

(No one in my life - save you all - would ever understand this. So I had to write!)

Kris, ok, I have tears in my eyes because YES, I understand 100% how you feel, and the love you have for Tuki....I probably understand more then anyone you will ever meet.

How wonderful for you Kris! I'm so glad you could experience a moment like that. Very few could understand that kind of love, it's very special.

Love is waiting and not complaining while some jerky person goes to get a price check on organic bean sprouts. Bella is readily enjoying those already along with some alfalfa sprouts.
