OUCH! Rough nite in Maryland

So, the animals were relaxing with me watching a little TV before bed. Bailey Dog laying on the floor next to the couch and Tuki Bird on my chest as I lay on the couch.

Bailey sat up and looked at us -- nothing unusual -- but for some reason Tuki got spooked. He panicked and started to run up from my chest to my face, straight up to my head to get higher than the dog.

Would have been fine, if he didn't get a toe nail stuck IN MY EAR on the run up!!! And I'm not talking my lobe...this was EAR CANAL! The pain was UNREAL.

I don't know how I did it, but I stayed calm. I tried to remove the nail -- couldn't. Had to wait for him to calm down and pull it out. When he did -- BLOOD. Gushing down my face!

I asked him to step up and for once, he did right away. I gently took him back to his cage and put him to bed. Stopped the bleeding and put Neosporin on it (best I could - can't see it)

Still hurts today...but I know it was a total accident and Tuki and I are back to cuddling already...just with the dog in another room!!!

Ooch! At least you stayed calm. The other day one of my Chihuahua's started barking & startled my Sun Conure & she latched ahold of my chin. When she did, I kinda jumped which scared her even more & she ran up my face & clawed my eye lid in the process. Then the next day while my Sev. Macaw & I were driving, he didn't want to sit on his carrier (there's a perch on the top) anymore so he just jumped off right onto my face. I now have a bite on my chin, a claw mark on my eye lid, a claw mark on my nose, & 3 little claw marks on my cheek. I look really attractive. I'm kinda starting to understand why people declaw their cats. Crystal

Please, please, please, please keep your guy in the carrier when driving. It's a sad ending for your FIDs if you have to stop real fast or get in an accident. Not to mention you put yourself and others at risk if you become distracted.

Thats why he went back in the carrier. I was driving through my grandma subdivision & figured I would let him out since we were almost to grandma's cause he hates the carrier but I guess I found out that it wasn't a good idea. It won't happen again, trust me. Crystal

Much better today. Ear doesn't hurt anymore.

And Tuki had a VERY big day! He came to work with me this morning. He wasn't thrilled with being awakened at 4:30 AM but he went along with it.

The idea was to put him on the radio and make hime a star...but like Grey's do...Tuki decided he wouldn't make a single PEEP the entire 4 hours!!!

But everyone commented on how well behaved he is and he got a little healthy social interaction. But he's certainly no feathered Howard Stern!!!

I'm impressed you were able to stay calm through that pain! Ouch! Since we moved I don't get your radio station anymore! I'd love to hear Tuki on the radio!
