Clumsy CAGs - I don't think so!!

Ok ever since I put up Max's play corner I've been trying to figure out how he's managed to get from one side of the room to the other side where his hanging gym is.. approximately 9-10ft away. Leave the room for a few seconds & boom he's on the other side..

Well today as I'm logged into Birdboard I witnessed the little sneak. Picture this he goes up to the top of his climbing net & leaps off where he perfectly lands on the gym. Couldn't believe it! He was so graceful it took my breath away. After that he climbs to the top of his hanging gym & leaps again to land across the room on his cage/playcorner. I'm amazed he's figured out how to go up high to get enough lift to perfectly land back & forth. I also can't believe that he's figured out precisely where to make the jump from to land so perfectly. I think he's been practicing & planning behind mum's back for weeks..little stinker.

Grey's clumsy - bah humbug.. I don't think so!!

I agree, CAG's are extremly graceful birds. Don't know where the clumsiness
theory comes from.
My CAG Abbie is fully flighted, and it is the most awesome thing to see her fly.
She does a perfect landing without so much as a ruffled feather! :o)
I think if they get spooked or frightened they may look clumsey, but it's not the norm.
I am in a wheel chair for part of the day, and Abbie is terrified of it.
She bolts away as quickly as possible.
We're working on Target Training~ it's a labor of love!
Your birdy sounds like a smart little guy, and very inventive! :o)

Yep I'm with you Linda. I think Greys are extremely graceful! Good luck on the Target Training. I'm trying to teach Max colors with a play set.. so far everything is "Red" to Max..

The clumsiness comes from if they're not allowed to fully fledge before they are clipped. Ollie is fully flighted and fairly graceful. She does have some pretty hard landings though! Sounds like Max has everything figured out pretty well!

It's pretty cool to watch a baby Grey cross over from clumsy to graceful...
At almost 6 months, Tuki is now climbing his cage with a LOT more ability and skill than just a couple of weeks ago.

He never used to hang upside down...now he does it all the time. Looks like Spider-man on his boing!!!

Camille is correct. Some greys are very graceful if they learn to be confident. Others figure they cant fly cuz they never were allowed to fledge and they fall like rocks.....
Our guys are extremely smart....and it does sound like Max has it made!

It's even better when they find out those wings can make a fun toy even funner....There's nothing more delightful watching a grey spin about in circles hanging on to one of their toys.
