Hey Saint-
I'm having a similar problem. But we are working on training. For months, I've been making comments when my CAG poops...no matter where or when I say excitedly, "Tuki Pooped! You pooped Tuki!" So, now I've started trying to get him to go when I first pick him up - I hold him over the paper and say, "Poops Tuki!" It is working too! He does go. But he will continue to go on me as well. Not sure where to go from here... ![]()

What I do is... if I'm holding Oliver for more than 15 minutes, I'll give him a "poop break". I take him to his perch, he does his thing, then I immediately pick him right back up. So he KNOWS that I'm going to give him a break. It has worked for us. We still have our occasional accidents but that comes with the territory.

Hey Kris I am sure we can get good advice from the experience CAG owners here. I just handle Jasmine after she poops first. LOL

When Togo was younger, I'd wait for her to do the little squatty-poop thing they do and say, "Go poo-poo" just before she...um...did.
Now she gives me a little warning. She'll say, "Go poo-poo," poop, and say, "Good boy." (For 6 years, we thought Togo was a boy. Oops!) |

Well I just look for Max's "Poopy face & squatty butt" it's usually a dead give away for the impending bomb. I usually do the same thing as Jill & note my watch for the poop danger zone ie around 10-15minute intervals.
Other than that get to know the product "Poop-off" real well.... ![]()

I have a small basket, I wrapped the handle with rope, lined with paper and hung a few toys from. I started using it when Penelope could first perch. I would place her on it every 10-15 minutes when we were cuddling and make a big fuss when she pooped. She is 2 years old and I keep the basket next to me when she is sitting on me. She will go to the basket climb up on the handle do her "thing" and climb back down to me. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone I am Dewey's mom (CAG) and a new member. I've had Dewey about 6 years. His previous owner somehow taught her to not poop in her cage. So when she is out which is alot of the time she is constantly dooing little poops. In the morning when I first let her out she does a humungus poop. she has finally gotten used to doing little poops in her cage but tries to save the big one in the AM for outside her cage. Bye for now, Dewey's mom

shadow is a green cheek conure, and although i havnt been able to train him to poop on command, he usually gives fair warning when hes about to go. he kinda of squats and sticks his bumb down. this is usuallu about 5 seconds before hes gonna go. just enough time to move him off of me. lol

Romeo gives me a warning too, about a 1/2 a second before he poops on me.
