poop question...Sorry to be gross!

I read someplace, cant remember if it was here or someplace else, that if the bird poops green, it could be a sign of a liver problem.
Well mickey bird (cag) has been pooping green for as long as I can remember. This kinda really has me worried. I never thought about it until I read it, and that was about a day or two ago.
I just thought that I was normal. Mickey is 11 years old and like I said, she has always had the color.
anyway, I just wanted to compare poops with other cag's to see what "normal" really is.
Thanks
Sue

I don't know if there's any truth in what you heard. But I think any poop that I've seen has been on the greenish side. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Sorry I can't help.

What does your bird normally eat? Sometimes poop can take on the color of the food the bird ate.

Srry if i didn't help very much.

When we first got Gillian I read that on the internet and then ran her to the vet.. turns out it is just the pellets she is eating.. The colored pellets turn their poop different colors when they eat more of one then the other :?

When you first brought her home did you take her to an avian vet to get a check up & blood work done to make sure she was all healthy? This should be done when you bring any new pet into your home. Also with a bird you should get blood work done when they are healthy so that you have it compare to all their other blood work you do in the future.

When the droppings are a very vivid green it is probably a liver condition. If your bird eats quite a few seeds, as opposed to a primarily pellet diet, the droppings are usually a medium to dark green. The colour of the urates (portion of the droppings that should be white) indicate a problem if they aren't white. A birds droppings consist of three things, stool (worm shaped dark stuff), urine (clear liquid) and urates (white and opaque).
It's a good idea to bring your bird to a qualified avian vet at least once a year for a checkup as birds tend to hide their illness. Once you have the bird checked out, keep an eye on things like a change in droppings, e.g. colour, volume, consistency. Don't be surprised to see a huge change in colour if you have just fed the bird beets or blueberries though. Sometimes a sudden change in personality can indicate illness. If you see any changes it's best to have the bird checked out by your vet. When disease is detected early on there is a better chance of recovery. It is also important to keep an eye on your bird's weight. Buy an electronic gram scale and weigh the bird every few days and keep a record.

I have a U2 and his poop is usually green or greenish brown. When Rico pooped at the vet she pointed everything out to me and told me this is what a healthy poop should look like. Don't know if that helps much.

Poops

I notice a Big Difference in the poops of my 2 Cags....The male pops firm and is not too messy. The female is a slob...Larger, wetter messier poops...I notice that the females stains carpet all different kinds of colors depending on what color pellets she eats....At least she doesn't poop purple because she won't eat the puple pellets.... :aiwebs_01
