Ziggy's Adventure's at the "Grandparent's"

So, I've been calling home every evening to see how Ziggy is doing with my parents. He's been behaving...for the most part. I guess he's been chewing on the blinds... So I told him today to stop the shenanigans, and my mum said he was definitely listening. *lol* I guess yesterday, my brother's cat decided to do something so outrageous. My 'keets' cage is on a hook in the corner and both AGs flank that corner...making the kitchen the bird room! Well, Rufeo (the cat) decided he was so determined to get to the 'keets, he climbed INTO Ziggy's cage with Ziggy inside (Ziggy's cage is open so he can go in and out as he pleases)!!! Rufeo totally ignored Ziggy, while Ziggy had the "what the hell?" look. If her camera wasn't dead at the time, she would have taken a picture. It would have been a sight to see!! (Rufeo can stretch 3.5 ft...so he's like a jungle cat) I'm glad he had no interest in Ziggy, so everyone is okay...I just have never heard of anything like that! Figured I would share the story!

So, it's been almost three months since I last been on the board and posted something about Ziggy (yay for the Coast Guard keeping me busy...at least it helps keeping me out of the house while the fids are gone).

Anyways, Ziggy is starting to pick up new phrases and sounds from what my parents are telling me. After I was on the phone with them one night, Ziggy called at the top of his lungs "Ziggy Zoo", which is what I call him when I talk to him. My parents were so amused that they called me immediately in hopes he'd do it again so I could hear it. Unfortunately he got stage fright and tried to nibble on the phone.

Also, according to my parents, he's been calling one of the cats when it's feeding time for them. Our middle cat (who we call BooBoo) doesn't have the best nose because she had a severe infection in her sinuses when we first found her, so we have to call her and shake her food to let her know that there is food in her bowl. When mum put the food in the dish, Ziggy out of the blue goes, "Come here BooBoo...BooBoo come here...BooBoo!" Mum thought she imagined it and Dad comes over from the other room and goes "Did he just say that?" I wish I was there to have heard it!

While the fids have been gone, my husband and I moved to a new flat in Pensacola...he's going to start flight school! I hope the boys will like the new place, because we're really happy about it. We're just counting the days down until we can have them back. It's looking like June, based on my operational schedule. I sure do miss them!

Congrats on new place and hubby's flight school. just what will he be flying?
My husband is Army, so hes got the huey's and blackhawks.

ziggy will sure to amaze you when you finally have him home. My Stirling is in his twenties, and for the first time, he said "I love you" this morning.

ya'll stay safe, and thank you for your service!

Thanks Lisa! (And no worries...that post was right around the everyone being excited about their new fids at Xmas (which was all great to read)...so I am sure it got hidden). We're not sure what he'll be flying just yet, depends on his ranking in class. He wants to fly the HH-65C Dolphin (the orange CG helo), but we'll see. And I definitely remember you telling me about your hubby being a pilot (I love that Sampson would say "Popop can fly"...I hope to teach Ziggy something like that).
That is extremely exciting about Stirling! I wish I could say the same about Sebastian (my parent's TAG)...but I think she's just disgruntle and stuck in her ways. But that's how she is, and I wouldn't want her to change. :o)
I'll try to be better about the updates...just kind of hard when the fids are 2 time zones away! :o)

Another update!! Ziggy is doing good right now, even with my parents starting to pack up for their next transfer (I'll get him and the 'keets back before they have to move). Anyways, Ziggy's vocabulary keeps on growing!! He can say "Scooby Doo!" and sounds like various squeeky toys that Zero (the dog) plays with. Here are some pics that mum send me: one of Sebastian hanging off of the kitchen light (crazy 22 year old TAG); me and Ziggy opening Xmas presents; and a few of Ziggy with his best pal Rufeo (the same jungle cat I mentioned earlier in this thread. Enjoy!!

Thanks Lisa...I'm doing as well as I can...stress and strain at work (we're finally out of dry dock and looking at having a lot of buoys to work on, now we're three months behind schedule). Counting down the days that my husband has left on his LAST patrol and counting down the days I see my parents before they move from Cali so I can reclaim the "boyds". Got their homes ready for them to come home...trying to find good spots for their playpens now. Figured I'd add a few more pics...these are Sebastian and Ziggy having a close encounter (she flew to his cage from another room).

I love that Rufeo and Ziggy are pals!! I have a Maine Coon who LOVES Scarlett. The Maine Coon is 16 pounds of pure muscle (and was the runt of all the littermates still at the shelter when I adopted him! ) And he does this weird thing where he scrunches his eyes up and licks the air when he's happy, or being petted, or whatever.

The other day, he was in happy mode, and he tried to bathe Scarlett!! She, understandably, thought that was too close to "tasting" for her own liking, and she bit his nose. He still tried to cuddle with her 5 minutes later!!

Good luck with the moves. You must be missing your fids like crazy. I can't stand when I have to be out of town for 3 days for work!!! I can hardly imagine. Your guys sounds so smart!

Your cat and my brother's cat sound very much alike (we're not sure what breed Rufeo is, except for "dumpster kitty"). Ziggy's been pretty patient, at least with Rufeo...haven't heard of him biting him for being too close. He did give a good nip on my dad's finger though...not sure why though. I love the fact that you cat tried to groom Scarlett...that's really funny.
