The time has come again to try and find a suitable home for Benjamin, my
Grey (CAG). Here are some of the details:

The bird: Benjamin is a 5 year old Congo African Grey. I purchased him when
he was 13 weeks old from a breeder (but not a top breeder like Len, Bobbi,
Scott or some others). He talks, but not when I am in the same room. He is
fully flighted, does not pluck, and weighs about 430 grams. He eats almost
anything that I eat as well as most parrot foods. His primary diet is mostly
some form of Goldenfeast blend. Sometimes I will give him a monkey biscuit,
which he loves. I've tried to convert him to a pellet diet, but he really
doesn't enjoy them, so unless he is really hungry, most of them end up on
the floor. And frankly, I can't see feeding some homogenized, extruded
mixture as a primary diet.

On the downside, he usually expresses his displeasure with things he doesn't
like by biting. The more attention he gets, the less likely he is to bite.
Unfortunately, I lack the patience, time, and training ability to eliminate
this habit. Fortunately he does give indications when he is displeased so
there are times I feel confident in letting him sit on my shoulder, and
times I know not to risk it.

Perspective owners: Benjamin should probably be in a one bird home. I have
an Amazon, who he seems to be jealous of, so I think he would be best in a
situation where he doesn't have to compete for attention. I will not give or
sell him to anyone. Any perspective owner must demonstrate the capability to
support him, both in time and financially, as well as the desire and
understanding of what is involved in caring for a parrot.

The price: I cannot in good conscience sell Benjamin, but when I've offered
him for adoption in the past, I was plagued by people interested in a 'free'
bird. This is NOT a rescue situation. If you want this bird, you will
however be required to purchase his cage (Island Maui) and all perches,
toys, boings, and accessories that he has become accustomed to, and agree to
use them until he is at least acclimated to a new home. I am located in
eastern PA (near Allentown). Shipping is not an option.

If you want more details or are interested in making Benjamin part of your
family, please write to me OFF LIST. If you don't know how to do this or
post something that is not beneficial for the list to hear about, you will
automatically be excluded from consideration.

itried to find it again on petfinders and i cant find it,,,they must of deleted it cause i know i saw it... sorry lisa i even looked on other boards that were mention in the ad above but cant find anythin

thanks for trying....I always get involved with placing greys when I can....
I have a feeling its one I have been trying to find the owner of.....A lost one, found 2 years ago, and now being sold..i could be wrong...but its the same area...........
