Coming home soon.

It looks like our TAG will be coming home within the next week
I of coarse have some more questions
When would be best to take him home? The weekend when there are more people around, or during the week when things are quieter?

The pet store recommends taking the cage he has been in home with us for the first week or so. That way he can get used to hin new cage at his own pace. Is that a good idea?

We are so excited to have him come home, but I have to admit I am also pretty nervous. Hope thats normal.

As of now he still doesn't have a name

Thanks again for the help everyone!

Congrats!!! Thrilling isn't it? Who would have ever thought that someone could get all excited over a silly bird huh? Well Welcome to the club, lol.
The cage idea is a very good one, let him get used to it slowly but seeing as how it's a TAG I really don't see any big problems there but still a good idea just as a precautionary thing to ease his way into his new digs.
CAGs are more likely to freak out over new stuff.
Gracie (TAG) has no problems with new stuff at all, she just ignores it and checks it out when it suits her.
Ruby (CAG) on the other hand has a coniption first and an aneurism next before she checks any new stuff out. (might be an alien that wants to eat her )
Congrats again on the new family member.

COngrats. Its so exciting bringing a new baby home. Can't wait to see home pic's. I brought 2 of my fids home at night when things were less hectic. They didn't seem to care, they wanted to play with me. The other was brought home in the afternoon. Crystal

Doyle came home in the afternoon on the weekend. But AGs can be different. I would bring him home when it is quieter so it doesn't scare him. Good luck!! I can't wait to see pictures! I really hope I can bring home a TAG soon! Tiffany

Congratulations!!! So soon, I am so jealous, I have over a month to go still :x

The cage idea sounds like a really nice one, very kind of the store to let you keep it for a little bit (I assume you would return it after he was accustomed to your cage?) definantly shows they care about their babies success first!

As far as time to take him home, I would probably go towards the quieter time of the week, just to err on the safe side. That's a big change and you don't want to accidently overwhelm him.

You've got to name your baby!! I come up with very silly names for my pets, so I'm probably absolutely no help at all: CAG named Jiminy and a female orange tabby named Charlie.

But here are some names I had on my "list" for Jiminy for when I found out his gender (yours is a boy for sure, right?):

Milo, Jean Luc, Smee, Sam

Here is a fun site with some interesting and unusual names too :D Good luck!

Yes, they let me keep the cage for a week or two.
I'm sure they will go over how to make the tranfer from one home to another.
I'm thinking daytime cage time in the new cage, and sleep in the old cage at
first? If he seemsperfectly happy in the new cage should I just try to let him stay in that one right away?
Should I let him spend most of his first day in the cage to get comfortable with his new surroundings? Or should I take him out and let him get used to the way things are going to be from the begining?

I was there this morning, and they showed me how to feed formula incase regresses back to wanting formula after he his home. He mostly just played with what I gave him.
I was feeding him food out of his dish for a bit. That was fun. He seemed to be enjoying me giving him treats.

It looks like we might get him monday or tuesday.
I will definately take some pictures.

Good luck, Bob. You know we are all here for you when you get your little guy home. I assume they told you to purchase a digital probe thermometer for the formula?
