Planning on taking in a plucked CAG

Hi everyone

I am fairly new here an aquaintance of mine contacted me and wants me to take in a CAG that he has.It has been with him for about 4-5 years it has a fear of human contact and is a plucker. It hasn't been to a vet recently.I plan on going to see it hopefully by the end of this week.Right now I know that the road ahead is going to be long and hard.I do animal rescue so I know about the risks involved.I plan on taking it to an avian vet as soon as possible and quarantining it as well.If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.Thank you all for reading and replying to my post. :-\

Sounds like the poor bird needs someone like you. Vet check and quarentine is the first thing I was going to say but you covered it. Also I would suggest getting some Red Palm Oil and putting that in his diet.

Good luck keep us posted

Dave

Thank you for your input on rehoming a parrot.Fortunately I have been doing animal rescue for 10 years.I currently am owned by 18 FIDS mostly rehomed,
rescued or purchased.I have had all different types of birds with lots of excess baggage you name it I have dealt with it.I have a lot of patience so whatever I am up against I'm ready for it.I also have 5 chihuahuas that I have 2 of them were
rehomed due to excessive baggage.I enjoy what I do and that is care for the animals that people no longer want or can no longer care for.I have such love for all of them.

I am sooooooo glad to see the bird going into experienced hands, rather than a new bird owner. Good luck with him/her. Sounds like it will be a great addition to the flock!

Re: Planning on taking in a plucked CAG

Hello Everyone

After discussing this further with my husband we decided that we will not be taking in the plucked CAG.The fact that it hasn't been seen by an avian vet in quite some time and is coming from a breeder who is known for taking numerous FIDS in :'(.

We have such a large flock already and we really don't want to jeopardize the entire flock by bringing this CAG into our home.We would really be devastated if something was to happen to anyone of them. :'(
