Question Manzanita Playstands

I have seen beautfiul playstands made from manzanita wood. But my question is would those be too slippery for a grey? Some research I have read says it is too slippery for greys as they tend to be clumsy, some say it's fine if you sandblast it. I was hoping someone here could tell me their experiences with manzanita playstands and their greys. Thanks in advance!
BTW, baby should be coming soon! Still haven't figured out a name!

Hi there. I actually have both kinds of manzanita perches. And I too have heard that the sandblasted ones are better, less slippery. However Tully has never had an issue on either of them. He does seem to like the the sandblasted one better, but I just think that's because it's bigger.

I think the whole clumsy thing is a myth actually. I mean I guess they could be clumsy if they are clipped too early in life and then I feel they don't really learn how to balance themselves so they are a bit awkward. But if you have a good breeder who lets them mature a bit before clipping then I don't feel it's an issue. IMHO. Anyway congrats on the new baby! Can't wait to see pics!!

I've got the sandblasted stands for my guys and we've never had a problem. There's a great supplier in CA, that will ship any where. His name is Gene and the website is sierramanzanita.tripod.com. I would stay away from Avian Oasis! Poor communication skills and incredibly slow shipping (almost a month). Just make sure you let them know what size wood you need, how many cups and eye hooks. Also, ask to have the base 3x2 ft.
