I say get them both!
Okay, maybe you can't... I agree with Dani, see who picks you, or who you just "click" with. When can you see the TAG? Maybe Saturday after you meet the CAG on Friday?

That is a toss up for me....but personally, my heart always goes out to the older ones that are getting rehomed. I fell like they need help, and may be harder to place. I almost got an older TAG, but I had already put my deposit down on my baby CAG.
Anyways, Im rooting for the older CAG ; ) |

I would wait and go visit the CAG and see what he thinks of you. In a perfect world I would get both!
But that isn't much help! Good luck! I hope you find the best bird for you!

Well, like already said, see who picks you. If they both do, you're in trouble ;)
I might be getting a CAG whose just under a year, who is being rehomed. I have always had a soft spot for them, as well as babies. I just love all birds 8) |

I'd go on a Saturday morning when I can see the real bird when he's doing his real and natural behaviors. The owners may tell you "oh it's no problem he stays up every night because we work". But just because they do or say that doesnt mean it's good for the bird or that he's in a good frame of mind then. And I'd DEFINITELY not drive 6 hours for a quick Friday night visit that wont really tell me anything. Any bird that time of night is either revved up from being alone all day (if they work) or/and their bodies are telling them to sleep but they cant because the lights are on and the family is active, keeping them awake. Like kids in the grocery store lol. I feel badly for any bird needing a home and would always consider them before babies. It's much harder on rehomed birds and as you can see, this bird only being one year old, is one of many who are passed around many times during their lives. Not to mention having to live alone with only humans for companionship (usually working all day) in the homes they DO live in. |

My new way of thinking is that I will from now on, always go for an older bird that needs a home. I have been truly blessed by my 20 plus? Umbrella Cockatoo that I took in a couple of months ago. There are so many great birds out there, that I wish people would put breeding on hold for a few decades and see if we can ever catch up with homing all the birds that are already here in captivity. Get the year old, IF you two make a connection. If not, keep looking. I bet your dream bird has already hatched and is waiting somewhere for you to discover him.
