Our baby was finally hatched...

Our newest member of the family (TAG) has finally arrived in the world !!! Our baby hatched last week (11 days ago) The breeder will be removing them from the nesting box in another week or so & then we will be able to visit our baby & begin bonding!!! I can't wait!!! We have not decided on a name because we would like to see what our new babies personality will be like but are interested in any suggestions...so far we are considering Kiki (The African word for friend is Akiki) and Kaiki (which is Hawaiian for child)! We are also interested in ANY advice that anyone would like to share about helping our baby adjust once it is time for him/her to come home! We want it to be as stress free as possible!!! Anything you would like to share will be greatly appreciated! I have had other birds but this is our first Grey.

We have a TAG named Bailey and he is a wonderful bird. He is a DNA sexed male and is a lot of fun and not afraid of anything. Loves toys and always eats, pellets veggies fruit and loves nuts as a once in a while treat. Good luck with your baby.

Congrats on your new baby. You will have the best time once you bring him/her home. Once you get him/her home, you probably shouldn't change your daily routine much. Let the bird get used to the way things happen in the house. That way, it won't be frightened later on. If you need to vacuum, by all means, do it. Let the family carry on as normal, while adding the baby into the mix. I don't have a TAG yet (but really hoping it'll happen soon). From what I hear, TAGs are wonderful. You'll have years of enjoyment. Please keep us up to date on your visits as your baby is weaning. We'd love to see pics also. Best of luck

Thank~you very much! I will definately keep you all informed as we go & if I can figure out how to post pics I will do that also. I have a digital camera but not sure how to get the photos on line. We have finally agreed on some names! If it is a boy we are going witrh Bosco....if a girl we are going with Akiki (which is the African word for friend!) Barring of course that we don't meet our new baby and have a name just "jump" out at us due to his/her personality! We have been making our new baby some wonderful new toys while impatiently waiting to be able to visit! Next week is taking forever to get here!!! LOL Again thanks for the well wishes & all advice is still welcome!

TAG Baby

First Congrats! on your baby.

I would stick to a schedule if possible. I do this with my TAG and she knows about what time Iam getting fruit and veggies ready to cleaning the cage for the day.
This has helped develop a trust bond with her and it let's her know that she is a part of this family.
She talks and whistles up a storm! So, this tells me she is happy and content with her surroundings.
Good Luck
nlee
