DNA delima

So my baby has been home 11 days and there has still been no word on my DNA results. I gave my breeder a call and she said they definitely should have been there by now. GRRR!!! My breeder when ahead and contacted the company she used for me to see what was going on. Turns out they never recieved the test - they must have gotten lost in the mail.

I was so hoping to know the results by now, so that I can finally name the little one. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered a kit and it should be here within the next day and I will go ahead and do a test myself.

This whole time I have been thinking that my baby is a little girl - just a gut feeling really, she is so sweet, lovable, and the most trust creature ever, and she just looks like a little lady, however I am kinda thinking male due to her weight. I know the males are bigger and so many females I have heard of there weight being on the lower end of the "grey weight range", she is right now 450 grams. Who knows - maybe she is just a really big lady or maybe I have a little boy on my hands.

I will just have to see after I do the DNA test and get the results back - I am excited to find out and finally name the little one. I will keep you all posted.

I just had mango done, got the results yesterday and as i suspected he is a MALE, which is what I was hoping for, not that I wouldn't love him had it been a girl but I still wanted a male......His was easy though, he blew a blood feather last week so I just squeezed the blod from that and sent it off. At 22 months old Mango weighs 17 ounces so just over a pound and he has rounded eyes which they says is also male. However all that is speculation, but it was right for him.

Give us a good profile picture of your Grey, we'll tell you what he/she is within 90% accuracy. We need one eye and side of beak in picture.

From the small picture in your signature, I'd say you're right, and it is a girl.

Hehe. . .in all the pictures where we're not puffed up,eating, or doing something else to distort the shape of the facial figures, it appears like she has perfectly round eyes.

Look at her when she's doing nothing but hanging out, and if the eyes look perfectly round (no almond shaped ">" toward the beak. . .like a human's eyelid slants toward the nose) then it's probably a girl. The beak is pretty small, too, furthering my belief that it's a she :)

I'm sticking to my original guess. As that's all it is, an educated guess. Let us know when the results come through. I'm sure a few other Grey lovers will put in their 2 cents, too.

do you plan on collecting blood or a feather?
I suggest if its blood, wait till you go to the vet next time, as I have heard some bad stories...If its a feather, relize by you pulling it, she's gunna hurt and be afraid of you.
I did the feather, and it was only because I was very familar with process.
I would NOT, even with all my years experience, contemplate the blood.

I'll be doing a blood test - I have done it this way myself many different times and have never had any issues, I am used to doing it and know what I am doing.
