SParky is losing weight

Sparky has lost 44 grams since the month before last. I forgot to weigh last month.

Does 44 grams seem significant? I am figuring it is his molt. He is eating fairly well. I am finding a few extra Harrisons on the floor and he is kinda being a butthead about his leafy greens.......but he is right there wanting everything else.

He has his annual the first week of May. He is acting fine. I am just trying to get a line on if this is common. His keel isn't sticking out or anything either. This is the first time i have weighed him in at under 500.

Thanks

Has he just learned to fly? playing more or more active?
I would see if I could move up his routine check up because not to scare you but that is a big loss for a tiny one. He could be perfectly fine, but I suggest this to put your mind at ease, and to make sure without a doubt, he is ok.

To second what Lisa said, if he hasn't grown his flights back recently and been using them more, it may be something to worry about. Weigh him again tomorrow morning, and if he's still low, it could be a big deal.

Thanks for your quick responses.

I just got off the phone with the vet and they have moved his appt to 2 tomorrow. After reading your responses I am very grateful they are getting him in tomorrow. I told them it was a weight loss concern and they bumped us right up.

Now I feel nervous. Sparky is clipped. He flies into walls and I thought he was going to kill himself. So this is straight up weight loss.

He is my boy.....

dont get upset. try to stay calm and think positive things....there is just as much chance nothing is wrong, as there is. So dont worry till ya need to worry. I know, easier said when I am not in your shoes, but I have been there...lots and lots of times....
so were thinking good thoughts, and looking forward to your update.

Good vibes heading towards Sparky. I'm sure he'll be fine! But better safe than sorry.

.
Its not being paranoid, is simply the act of loving.

Yeah, it's only paranoid when you start making him live in a bubble world and won't let him have friends. . . .

This is just healthy precaution.

Hi guys-I took Sparks in and things seem great with him. His weight is not down 44 from last year's appt. From last year he was down only about 18 grams. Maybe I just wasn't getting a good weight on him here. But I weighed him 3 times. He was actually 511 in the office.

We get blood work back tomorrow.

She told me his feathers seem dry. I shower him at least 3 times a week. He gets RPO once a week. SO she wants me to buy some Nekton Bio. What is that? Does it work?

Thank you for waiting with me guys and encouraging we go today. I feel better. I can hear the money draining out of my checking as we speak. Cuz we have 3 more needing annuals next month. Next year I will try and space the months out. This is gonna hurt. Cut into my sushi and sake funds!

Cheers/
