(Pics) Nice to Beak You: CAG meets SIE Introdution

Bela my almost 3-yr old CAG meets Picasso, my almost 1-yr old Solomon Island Eclectus....everyone was being well behaved and mom was well prepared to be referee. Wizzo, my 6-yr old CAG found Picasso on her cage which helped mommy realize everyone must really start to interact with eachother. Wizzo wanted no part of it, but I'm hopeful in time everyone will play nicely on the same play stand.

I seem to get the birds with the beak problems. Bela's beak has a "crack" if you will...I think it will grow out in time. Picasso was bit by a Cockatoo at the place I bought him from. I took him home with the beak wound, took him to the vet and all. Vet said he was healing nicely. As his beak grows, the bite wound will as well. Not sure how many years it will take, but we have plenty of time and I love him regardless of his less-than-perfect candy corn beak.

He is such a doll...took him for a walk last weekend on his aviator harness. He sat on my shoulder with his beak burried in my ear....terrified. Next time I'm sure he'll realize it isn't all that bad.

Oh, what a pretty little pair of siblings!!

Is Wizzo good with Bela?

ps, that looks like a fun playstand. Do we have a bigger picture or an online site where I can find one? We're looking for a new one for our Ekkie and future, yet to be determined, fid

I have been really aprehensive introducing Wizzo that close to Bela. The eyes start pinning and I always seem to do this late at night when my vet isn't in the office, so I only let them get so close. Wizzo has now started to put herself on her swing where I am "allowed" to pick her up. It's her way of saying "Ok mom, I wanna come out". If I try on my terms she bites like the devil, but we both know the special bird swing in her house is the neutral territory where she will not bite me.

I will attach a couple shots of the play stand - be right back. I bought it at the bird fair at DuPage County Fairgrounds a couple years back - maybe 125-150 bucks.....? I forget now. Every dime I get goes to these monkeys.

thanks for the explination. Yes, the beak will grow just like your nail if you were to damage it, someday you will never know it was there...

they are adorable!

Parrot Play Stand

I haven't gotten around to adding side perches because it requires drilling. We've hung various toys on it, but they really seem to like the big swing in the middle. I also have a big boing hanging from the beam between the living room and dining room. It has bells on it and they go from bell to bell ringing them.

I think I need an interior designer to convert my living quarters to a rainforest. They have so much fun, it just makes me smile.

That is very nice, and colorful!! Scarlett has finally decided she likes to climb on things instead of being a perch potato, so we're trying to get something she can climb on and around so she doesn't turn into a big, stationary wad of red and purple feathers!

Nobody really liked the thing until I put the vet wrap on it. It adds color, texture they like to chew, and they immediately realized how easy it was to climb on it. HIGHLY recommend vet wrap! I have never seen it sold at the bird shows and I'm seriously thinking of opening a booth or adding it to the parrot rescue place's booth I recently worked.
