Dr. Irene Pepperberg Speaking in Cincinnati

This has proven to be a rewarding experience for parrot lovers' nationwide! Dr Pepperberg is coming to the Cincinnati area THIS SATURDAY APRIL 19, 2008. The event is meant to be a fundraiser for The Alex Foundation and includes a presentation by Dr. Irene Pepperberg, optional reception, dinner, raffle & silent auction.

For details please visit www.AlexFoundation-Events.com.

Dr. Pepperberg is known for her ground-breaking cognition and communication research with the world renowned African Grey Parrot named Alex. Her research with Alex, Griffin and Arther (a.k.a. “Wart”) has proven that African Grey Parrots can be taught to produce and use speech appropriately at the level of a five-year-old child. By demonstrating these parrots to be sentient beings, it is hoped that conservation efforts in their wild ranges will be encouraged, as well as avian veterinary research and responsible pet ownership. Progress has also been made toward using Dr. Pepperberg’s training techniques to aid children with autism and other challenges with speech acquisition.
