Izzy update #2

Well, at my wits end, I started to attack the biting issue with time outs. He simply gets locked in his cage and ignored for 10 minutes after a stern 'no bite'. He haaaaates them and will make doggy whimper sounds ( which was helpfully taught by my dog who whimpers when he's not allowed to beg for food ). It's so pathetically cute, it's very hard to ignore him when he's peering through his cage bars and ..whimpering! lol

We had two big breakthroughs though! He had been stepping on poop and shed down feathers and as you know, that's almost as strong a substance as adobe when dried! So, sucking up my courage and anticipating a lot of bandaids, I toweled Izzy to clean his feet. My Mother wiped his feet down while I distracted his face with neck scratches.

Now, he's not biting as much and is allowing short petting sessions! ...and with my Mother (my parents live with us as they're both disabled and my Mother can't take care of my father alone) can CUDDLE him. /thud

Needless to say, I personally don't have a CAG ..My Mother does lol. But, he's sooo much happier now that he realises he can interact and that petting isn't painful. He follows Mom everywhere and will even waddle over to her and fall asleep against her feet.

The second big break through was that the time outs work! He thinks twice before just blindly biting. Now when he bites and it's very rare (like only once a day lol) he considers it, then the bite is half-hearted or because he's sleepy and not willing to be put to bed. lol

Yay Izzy lol
