hmmm ok

how do i discourage him from doing that?

i do change the paper on his cage ever other day and on his play stand as well as he does not spend much time in there

should i just make sure there is no food on the ground before putting him on the stand to eat?

I believe CAGs are mainly ground feeders. That may explain why your bird eats from the bottom of the cage. My CAG throws food down there but can't reach thru the grate to get the pellets. I really don't want him down where his poop is.

yes, make sure nothing is on the paper, because if its old fresh food it can get him sick.

I know it's a different species, but our ekkie likes to eat off the bottom of her play top, too. She won't poop up there (actually comes down to the side of her cage to) so we only give her pellets and seeds and other things she can eat within a day or so of feeding (no fresh foods) up there and let her forage. She seems happy with that.

Fresh foods get fed either by hand or in her cage where they'll fall through the grate if she drops them. Maybe your guy wouldn't mind if you switch up what kinds of foods are where? He's still young so if you want to change it, it's best to do it now!

Good luck. And, last time I checked it had been a while since we had a photo update. Maybe you should get on that!

Oh, my fiance saw the pictures of your beautiful discus fish and found that some species do well in Angel tanks, so guess what? We've got two Red Turquoise Discus. They're gorgeous, and relatively inexpensive, otherwise I'd give you a big sarcastic "Thanks!" for putting that little bug in his brain, but we (and Scarlett my aquarium watcher) are quite happy with the additions.

lol yes angelfish and discus are south american chiclids

i'm glad u found some for pretty cheap as i paid $150 for each discus...

make sure u do a water change very often (dpeending ont heir size)

;)

we do not have a grate on ajax's cage because of his feet problem

the vet recommended to take the grate thats at the bottom of his cage

ajax only poops in 3 spots:

1. on his shower perch
2. on his playstand i made him
3. on mommy or daddy
i notice when i come home for work he has a MAJOR big one (like the first morning ones) when i take him out. i think he holds it in. as the paper has no poo poo on it

anywho i have another issue that i will post on another thread that i'm worried bout ( something to do with his toes) i'll have to try to take a macro pic of it (it's gonna be a challenge cuz he won't sit still)

but i'll make sure to take some pics in the process

Hmm. . . I forgot about his feet. Poor guy.

Well, we thought our discus were Red Turquoise, but come to find out, they're cobalts. So I'm very happy about that. I like the cobalts A LOT.

We got a super good deal on them because the exotic pet store the fiance works at until he finishes his teaching certificate got them as overstock, doesn't know how much they're worth, and we got Brian's discount as well. They're selling them for $21 each. The cobalts go for upwards of $60 each around here. So, I'm very happy.

We weren't sure if they could be kept together because most cichilds are REALLY aggressive, but angels and discus are only moderately aggressive. And they told us we only need to change the water twice a week (which is what we were doing anyways) because we only have 2 and it's a big tank. So hopefully, we're not doing anything wrong. But I'll guess we'll know if one of them grows twice as big as the other, won't we?

Bella goes to get stuff off her grate. Mostly the stuff from her Ultimate Blend that was too big to fall through. She actually munches on it a little bit until it FITS through the grate and onto the paper it goes. I think, I have a freak among parrots there.
