Taking the plunge

I took the plunge and put a deposit on the baby Congo I've been telling you about. I think his name (don't know if he is a 'his') will be Bing. He's a good little guy but he is only 10 weeks. I imagine all of them are sweet as babies. I am hoping he takes a long time to wean so that I have a long time to save. I am trying not to worry about cages right now but I got a line on a decent second hand one but I'd have to make a decision by Sunday as the woman is moving out of state and wants to unload it now. The problem is I think it is too big for my space (I have limited space). There is an Avian Adventure cage at the shop I would love to buy but they don't come cheap. Davey has a Kings Cage. I might end up going with a larger version of his cage by the same company. I think the bird is enough to think about for today. Attached are a couple of pictures. In the one picture you can see a little bit of the red he has all over his legs and under his wings. He also has some red mixed in with his grey feathers on his back but it doesn't show in the picture. The picture where his face looks a little on the pink side is accurate. No one is sure if this extra red will remain after the first molt or not.

What did I just get myself into?

what did you get yourself into?**LOL**
being owned by one of the best species out there...of course I am a bit bias..

make sure you ask why the person is getting rid of the second hand cage...dont want one that had a sick or a bird that died...
I have AA cages, and they are nice. I also have Kings.
check out my site for some info on greys..its in my siggy. It will let ya knwo just what you are getting into!
Congrats!

I try to visit every day the store is open even if I only get to hold him for twenty minutes. He already seems to be responding to me but that could be my wishful thinking. I agree on the socialization too. I try to get Davey around other people as much as possible. My life is an interesting mix of living alone in a suite of rooms but also living where I work so although no one really goes into my living quarters I will be able to have him interact with some of the bird friendly staff members and sometimes maybe even parishioners.

I like the name 'Bing"!
Did you change it to Davey?

I also agree "SHE" looks like a very healthy birdie...:)
