possibly getting a TAG
I may be getting a TAG! He is two years old (not DNA'd but has a boy name). His owner is rehoming him due to a life change that resulted in her being unable to spend enough time with him. He sounds like a wonderful bird and was raised in a home that is very much like mine (kids, pets, stay at home mom) We'll go see him this weekend and if all goes well will bring him home. We're very excited. We've admired the greys for a long time. We decided against getting one as a first bird and got a GCC instead who we love. She's given us a comfort level with birds that allows us to consider offering this one a home. We will quarantine the new bird but I don't know whether to put him in a seperate new room (where there isn't as much activity) or if I should move my conure to a seperate room and let the grey have the spot she occupies in the main part of the house. In the main room, he'll get LOTS of attention and interaction but also be exposed to lots of human activity/noise. I don't want to flood him with too much if it would stress him. However if being in the hub of activity would help him acclimate to us quicker I'd maybe go that route. Either way, the bird that gets put in a different area will have deliberate visits so that it is not "forgotten". Any thoughts on helping this guy adjust with the least amount of stress? He comes with his cage and toys etc...so there will be that familiarity. His owner to her credit made a deliberate attempt to keep his environment fluid while raising him to prepare him for such an unforseen situation as this so I'm hoping that will help. Also the timnehs are supposed to be a bit more forgiving of change. I'm trying not to get too excited because our getting him does depend on how the visit goes but its hard not to
And thoughts would be much appreciated. Amy Georgia Peach (pineapple gcc) |

Shoot girl don't try not to get excited. Get excited. I know *exactly* how you feel because I have spent the last few days in just that state.
It's because I was waiting to make a decision on whether or not to get a Festive Amazon that needs a new home. About an hour ago, after much discussion with his current owner, we decided that he's coming home with me late next week. Remember how Snoopy used to get really happy, throw his head back, and do a dance? That's how I feel right now!!!! So don't try not to get excited. Revel in it! Sounds like you are about to embark on a great journey with your new TAG. BEST WISHES, and be sure to do the Snoopy dance once in a while. ![]()

I think you are going to be a new grey owner and that's pretty exciting. Good luck and keep us posted.
