Hi there....It seems like all's well in your nest!!!!! So glad they're adjusting just fine. We visited Emani this past weekend and he's doing great. They think within 2 weeks he'll be coming home. Oh, how we can't wait!!!!! Our daughter got an Alexandrine Parakeet yesterday and we're picking him up today to bring home. She named him Pickles and he's so sweet. Continue to keep us posted as to how everythings going with your little ones!!!!

Hi Lori!
Oh not too long for you to wait now then! And how exciting you've an Alexandrine at home now! ![]() Mojo and Shinda have settled in so quickly! We've had numerous visitors here and they've taken it all in their stride! The advantage of having a breeder who gave them the best possible start in life! They are here in my dining room/computer room with me now. I've got Shinda on my desk playing and Mojo is on the big playstand. I gave them some scrambled egg earlier which they loved! They also like to break up bits of uncooked pasts and chuck it about! Oh they are simply wonderful! Shinda has pretty much learnt how to climb the cage up to the higher perches now which is great. He still likes to walk about and play on the cage floor too. |

I'm sitting at my computer (obviously!) and Shinda is fast asleep tucked up under my chin!
Took this video of them earlier. I'm using pine nuts as rewards and they're working really well as an incentive! Mojo in particular loves them! In the clip she helps herself to one after being a good girl and stepping-up for me but usually I'd give it to her, that would have been rather tricky with the camera in one hand and Mojo in the other! Watch Shinda pounce on one of the toys, he goes all silly with it! I'd just given them some mashed banana and honey and Shinda is trying to clean it off his breast feathers! I do wipe them after they have something messy but honey is terrible to clean off feathers! Video clip HERE. |

Video clip of Shinda HERE
Anyone who has been around baby parrots will recognise the snuffly noise he makes when he runs out to have a cuddle as an excited 'I'm pleased to see you' noise! It's so very cute! SHINDA ![]() He was scrabbling about in there for ages, chucking toys about, digging, preening then sleeping. When I decided to take some video he (of course!) came charging out and headed straight for the camera! Pics of Mojo taken while Shinda was busy in his tent and playing on top of the cage! ![]() ![]() ![]() Mojo playing on a willow branch I hung in the cage. ![]() |

Thanks Babypiggy
![]() Yes, I've taken advice on this from the breeder and other owners and the general consensus is honey is fine if fed in moderation now and again. It really is only a tiny amount (less than a 5ml teaspoon) mixed in with ready brek and hot water (from the kettle, I know they mustn't have milk) or with mashed banana which I'm giving them from a spoon and they are wolfing down! |

We had three days of crash-landings but they now both know exactly where they can safely fly and land. I no longer need to keep the blinds closed and I think the mirror bashing has ceased! How lovely for Ajax now he can fly! I've been keeping up the harness training and they're very good at allowing me to put them on. It's a shame we're moving into bad weather in the UK now, although to be honest it's been pretty awful all Summer (what Summer?!). We've had wet and windy weather here now for days so I think Autumn has arrived early I too am going to buy a couple of small flexi-leads, the size for Yorkies and other small dogs. Hopefully there will be a chance to take them out soon if we get a calm, dry and not too cold day. |
