They do have seed but also they have pulses (soaked overnight then cooked), sprouting seed, fresh fruit and veg, pine nuts as rewards. Once they're a little older I'll be giving them chicken thighs with a little of the meat left on the bone. The seed mix I buy (Parrot Premium) is a high quality seed mix which contains no peanuts, I don't/won't ever give them peanuts.... Quote:
Parrot food seeds mixtures and diets They definitely won't become seed junkies as I vary their diet too much for that to happen They don't have access to their seed all day, they are given fresh fruit and veg, pulses, sprouting seeds etc at other times of the day. I know how easily these birds become seed addicts but I'm making sure it won't happen to mine |

Today I cooked them some fresh corn on the cob. Shinda had a fab time destroying his and chucking it about the carpet! I don't know if he actually ate any mind you!
Mojo was definitely eating hers though. I (of course!) took lots of photos, I'll post a link to them rather than post the images here. MOJO & SHINDA - a set on Flickr There are a couple of close-ups of Shinda's little feet, bless him! |
