Yep, I'll definitely have my hands full! Decades of hard work and pleasure ahead for my family and I! Cant' wait to get started, hence the cage being prepared weeks in advance!

Awww thanks ever so much for doing that!

Has the ladder got sandy steps? Are those cable ties holding the rope to the wooden perch and the ladder to the cage bars? Or am I seeing things!

Does Ajax play ON the hanging toys, or just reach out and play with them?

Little Mojo is adorable. Nice cage too. It is outfitted well and very thoughtfully. I thought my birds had a lot but after looking at different cage set-ups by others I am starting to think my guys are deprived.

Thanks! Yes, he (she??!) is totally adorable.
My Mum came with me to visit the breeder (her first visit, my third) and we both had lumps in our throats when we saw Mojo!

Thank you for commenting on the cage! I've taken, and am still taking, lots of advice, so can't take all the credit for it!

When I took the things I'd bought from Pets At Home yesterday back to my house I reckon I spent about two hours getting it as it is now! Two hours to decide where to put four items!

Mojo's breeder is going to try him out with a few different perches from the time he starts perching to the time I take him home at about 16 weeks old to see which type/size he favours so I'm not going to buy any perches just yet.

I've read of so many breeders who breed birds in horrible stacked cubes with little attention to their emotional well-being, as though they're on a production line, and it really upsets me.

I did loads of research before choosing my breeder and I know I've picked a good one!

I was invited to come and see her birds and their accommodation before making a decision. I've visited twice more since and am welcome to visit as many times as I wish to allow Mojo and I to get to know each other.

Lesley will get me to practise putting Mojo's harness on several times once she's got him used to it, I'll be buying the Aviator harness.

I will be as well prepared for life with a parrot as anyone can be!

yup we were advised to zip tie everything down (well perches)

the lady told me if u can easily nudge it with your fingers then it is not stable enough (will result in less confidence )
since it may be wobbly when they step up or down onto it

ajax usually reaches out to play with them

sometime she'll grab the toy with one foot and try to kill it
LOL

it's kinda funny

they ladder is just a plain normal wood ladder

he's chewed on it so i will have to replace it soon which isn't bad as it lasted about a year...

dont use anyhting with sandpaper for your missing digit fid
since they don't really have nails they are more prone to get sores

anywho i took a vid of ajax climbing from the bottom to the top of his 5ft+ tall playstand.... i'm uploading it

so u can see you dont have to be too worried about their grip (i know how it is.. i was like that too)
:p

but ajax proved me wrong and tells (well shows me) he's a big boy!)

today for the first time he was waiting on his playtop (where we usually feed him breakfast and dinner) and when he want's to come down he'll say "up up"
but i didn't hear him so he decided to climb down on his own till i realized he wasn't pn his playtop anymore and hanging onto the side of his cage

bwhahaha

o man photobucket is taking forever to upload this vid

ps- in case u are wondering what that green grass is
it's oat grass... usually ppl give it to their cats but i bought it as it's good for birds as well to try it out :P

you breeder sounds like an excellent one

very very rare these days

mine was a horrible one...
bla

i'm so glad you have found a excellent breeder by the sounds of it

Excellent advice again, thanks!

I remember you saying about the ropes not moving about too much and I was trying to fathom a way to stop this happening because even that fairly short one I've put in Mojo's cage moves about with the slightest pressure.

I'll get hold of a nice branch (either from a pet shop or I'll ask around to see if anyone I know has an apple tree) and do what you've done, position the branch so the rope perch can be anchored to it.

Looking forward to seeing the video!

yep thats a good idea

i took finacee and i hours to figure out how to place his perches.........

lols we ziped tied and un ziped tied
and moved things about

ajax was all excited
(he gets excited everytime i clean his cage
LOL

i just dont want u to worry too much about mojo's grip

hehe also the foot with the nail will probably be his/her diminant foot

ajax only uses the foot he has nails on to hold foot

when i got ajax i was freaking out
fiancee and i went through months of stress and worry... because he was on 2 different meds
and 2 different rounds of clavamox

etc etc

still waiting for the stupid vid to upload its taking ages

o i forgot to add
if u are to put a ladder in the cage
put as little of an angle as u can (as horizontal as u can)

the more steep the ladder is.. they will not like it as much

well that's what the lady told us

i dunno if it's true or not
