I second that perfect. that was what I was trying to encourage in my post.
This is a wonderful option/solution.

Great news for you and Cozi. I'm so sorry you (might) have to re-home him, but this way you get him a loving home and can visit too. I also want to say that you shouldn't feel guilty about getting the Ekkie. I hesitated many years getting a CAG because I worried about the powder - I have a lot of allergies too. I've never had one problem with the oil gland birds, but the powder scared me. Thankfully, I don't have a problem with Izzy's fluff, but if I did, I wouldn't have felt unable to ever give another bird a loving home because of it. So... chin up, take a breath (grins) and let yourself love the new bird as much as you love Cozi. /hug

Your health is most important. You are no good to your birds (or friends or family) if you're in the hospital on a respirator or lugging around an oxygen tank, or feeling like crap constantly. I can relate to your situation because I rehomed a CAG. I felt so good about it, too, because she somehow came to HATE her original momma but she took to me right away. Original momma was amazed (honestly I think original mamma gave up too quickly but that is beside the point).

Anyway after about a year and a half I got very sick and blah blah blah I went through the same thing. At first I thought it was cancer, I never dreamed it could be the bird. But through process of elimination my doctors and I determined that it was the bird.

I didn't know anybody who could take the bird, though. I ended up surrendering her to a rescue, a really good one too. Only problem was, I would check the website constantly and they never put her up for adoption, that I saw. I have sneaking suspicions they sold her as a breeder, but I hate to think like that. She did have a bit of an attitude, but she was totally managable!

Anyway not tyring to make this thread about me. Just letting you know you are not the only person to suddenly get very sick from a bird and have no choice but to give it up. Keep Cozi in your heart, but it is also important to move on and let go of guilt.

I hope your Ek doesn't aggravate your condition.

I know your grey will do fine. You are lucky to have family that will give Cozi a try and it is a huge bonus that they have bird experience. I wish you the best.

Wow this sounds like the perfect solution to the problem now you won't have to worry about Cozi and you'll still be a part of his life.I hope it all works out for the best.

So, they came over to meet Cozi and play with him some - Cozi was very shy at first, but he did open up and became quite comfortable with them.

Cozi will be leaving my home Friday evening and going to his new home - I will miss this little guy so much.

At least you will be able to see him still, that's the awesome thing. Plus I don't think your ekkie will mind be an only child and getting all your attention you did what you had to do, which is great, you didn't take the selfish (stupid) option which could have killed you.

That right - they are going to come over Friday afternoon to get him, they have a big SUV, so the cage will fit in there. I am sending him with his cage and everything he has in it. I'm going to go with them and get him settled to make sure he doesn't get to scared with the move.

This weekend is suppose to be really hot - so I do plan to go to my parents house and swim some and I will stop by next door and say hello to Cozi and see how he is doing.
