Simon update
Well he's been here a week today and he's settling in pretty well I think. He went to the vet Friday for a checkup, wing and toenail trim (she also filed his beak smooth) Really nice vet. She had a good way with him. She said he looks just great (a little on the heavy side but I plan to be pretty strict with diet, no junk so that should get better). Since Friday he's been able to be out of his cage lots, which means he's getting more handling. He's doing well with me and getting better with my husband. So far its just us two asking him to step up. If he doesn't feel like it we don't push him but get him interested in something else. That beak is a bit more intimidating than Georgia's. He's only really pinched so far. Nothing too bad. He likes to be scratched and if I ask him "would you like a scratch?" he puts his head down for me. Very sweet. I notice that if he doesn't want to step up, he'll often go for a scratch and then he's more than willing to step up. It must relax him. He's picked up a bunch of new sounds. Caught him barking like our rat terrier today. I ordered two sleep cages, one for him and one for Georgia because I'm afraid both birds are not getting a full 10-12 hours of sleep in their big cages in our great room. The sleep cages will allow us to put them in a quieter part of the house. Anyway, just thought I'd share how things were going. We're all enjoying him so much (as well as our Georgia)
