I don't know what is going on in Raleigh recently... but everyone needs a rescue or re home for their birds (it seems).
That's true, but it isn't making it any easier to find one for me! lol You lucky dog, you...haha. Congrats on the newest baby. |

I noticed that I made my last post around 3am... which means that I sat on the stairs reading BirdTalk for a LONG time. I put Rascal to bed, and he was a little nervous and has some "fright spells" - so I sat down on the stairs where he couldn't see me and read... If he started freaking out, I'd go in there and quietly talk to him to get him to calm down. After a few spells, he did calm down and was able to sleep well...
But as I went upstairs, the stairs made a creaking noise and all I heard was a very confused little voice say "Mommyyyy...?" And I just about broke down right there... It was so sad... But I'll be a good mommy to him... He'll see! I'll break out the camera this afternoon - and pictures will be coming soon... promise! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! ~Kevin |

Your story sounds a lot like mine! I found Fawkes on CL too, I was looking for a grey and had turned down many because I didnt feel they were the right one for me. Well I had stopped emailing on them since I just wasnt finding the right one! But this one add for some reason made me email, i was a simple ad too. Just said Congo african grey needs a great new home, re-homing fee applies. Well they emailed backa nd we talked a bit about her, she sounded great! So we talked on the phone and we had decided to go meet her. But then we hit a financial snag due to things going on in the family. Well Heartbroken I called the guy and said that I didnt have the money and wouldnt for at least 2 months! He said he liked the way we sounded, and from pictures and refrences I gave him knew that she would fit great with us! So He held her for us until we could afford to drive and meet her, and we did it finally. That was it, she was ours from the moment we layed eyes on her! He ended up re-homing her to us for $300 with her cage and all her stuff! She is such a great bird, never once did she ac uncomfortable when she got here, in fact she was playing and talking to us within minutes of being in our home! We have now had her for 7 months and she is still as great as the day we brought her home! In fact she is better even, she will lay on her back in my hands, she calls me mommy and has learned SEVERAL new things since being here! Including her new name and the names of most of our flock!
Im so glad you gave rascal a great home!
